Hi! My name is Marlon Da Silva, and I will be accomplishing the Biotechnology Work Experience Certificate, Biotechnology Laboratory Assistant Certificate, and Associate of Science at CCSF by the end of 2021. My internship is at BioLumen, which is a nutritional technology company developing a solution to mitigate the negative impact of the Western diet. As an intern I have learned techniques like how to make fiber pills or bars from hydrogel and how to work with bacteria cell culture and bacterial cellulose by fermentation. My future plans are to continue at BioLumen while taking more online classes at CCSF towards the goal of transferring to finish my bachelor’s degree in the future.
