Ebtesam Hassan earned her B.S. in Biotechnology from Benha University. During her studies, she developed a keen interest in medical science, which led her to complete diplomas in Clinical Biochemistry and Medical Microbiology, enabling her to work as a medical laboratory scientist. However, her passion for biotechnology grew, prompting her move to San Francisco, the birthplace of biotechnology.
At City College of San Francisco (CCSF), Ebtesam completed a Lab Assistant Certificate, securing a bioscience internship at Abate Lab at UCSF. This experience deepened her motivation and passion for biotechnology and stem cell research. She continued her education at CCSF, earning a Biotechnology Work Experience Certificate and completing the CIRM Bridges to Stem Cell internship program. As a CIRM intern in the Clelland Lab, Ebtesam utilized CRISPR to knockout regulatory regions in the MAPT gene using iPSCs, differentiating them into neurons to investigate MAPT expression through various techniques. Her journey reflects a strong commitment to advancing in the Biotechnology field.
