Workforce Highlights

Launched 3Cheers! Committee 

The 3Cheers! Committee was launched in July with the slogan "Appreciate. Recognize. Engage." 3Cheers! planned 3 employee appreciation events in Q3 - more than the whole rest of the year! 

Celebrated the Anniversary of the ADA

CCHD staff viewed and discussed the documentary Crip Camp in early August to honor the anniversary of the Americans with Disabilities Act.

Welcomed New Interns and Fellows

3 Public Health Fellows were hired in Q3 (one of which was using the fellowship to complete their SUNY Cortland internship).

Approved the Workforce Development Plan 

The 2023-2024 Workforce Development Plan was approved by the Board of Health in September 2023.

Communication Highlights

Engaged with media

We submitted 4 press releases, including Health Alerts for poor Air Quality caused by wildfire smoke, and provided 5  interviews or comments to the media this Quarter!

Promoted our services

Represented CCHD and our services on 21 community coalitions or taskforces, participated in 9 community coalition/taskforce projects, and attended 52 community events to promote CCHD services.

Collaboration Update: Quarter 3 (2023)

Collaboration Highlights

Initiated Quality Improvement projects

In Q3, 3 Quality Improvement projects were initiated. Projects involve the lead poisoning prevention program, admin processes in health education, and website navigation. 

Collaborated on press release with the BOH

Cortland County Board of Health members were provided the opportunity to share their comments on the updated COVID-19 vaccine for a September press release. Dr. Matthew Noble, BOH member, provided a comment for the press release. 


Shared Syndromic Surveillance Data

1 syndromic surveillance data report related to opioid overdose was shared with a workgroup of community partners led by the Healing Communities Study. 

Launched suicide focus area CHIP dashboards

CCHD worked with SPEAK UP Cortland and partners to finalize the Community Health Improvment Plan tracking dashboards for the suicide prevention focus area. This initiative resulted in 76% of CHIP interventions having tracking data dashboards.
