Northern Wyoming

NORTHERN WYOMING - Divison 14

Not much is happening in Northern Wyoming at present.  The weather has turned HOT recently, which is discouraging outdoor activities.  It is even discouraging indoor activities because my basement is not its usual summer cool.

The spring division meeting was held in Casper at the CWMRA club. Four very interesting clinics were presented.  Kurt Brown discussed various dispatching methods that are useful to control operations on a model railroad.  Criss Kelloge demonstrated weathering techniques using chalk.  Harry Buhler showed how to use a small video camera to send spectacular views from a running train to a TV.  Homer Whitlock devised a method to inexpensively quiet the drive train in an older Athearn locomotive.

The CWMRA club in Casper has under taken a project to refurbish their baggage wagon.  New wood and new paint are part to the restoration.

The SMRA club in Sheridan is working on a layout renovation that started last December.  All new track is now in place and ballasted.  A locomotive will even run over this new track without problems (which is a surprise).  Scenery and buildings are now being added to the new real estate with a scheduled completion for October.  All new work should be finished in time for our November Open House.

SCHEDULED FALL ACTIVITIES FOR NORTHERN WYOMING

The fall division meeting will be held in Sheridan on September 30, 2017 from 10:00am to 3:00pm or until everyone goes home.  The location is the Old Taylor School ta 1030 N. Main.  Three clinics are tentatively scheduled for presentation.  

SMRA will hold an open house for their layout on November 18, 2017 from 10:00am to 3:00pm at 1030 N. Main in Sheridan.

CWMRA will hold an open house for their layout on November 25 & 26, 2017 from 10:00am to 3:00pm at 1354 N. Center in Casper.

The CWMRA will have displays at the Trail Center in Casper during December.
