FRONT RANGE DIVISION
A bit of scheduling confusion required hastily assembling a slide show featuring snow removal equipment utilized in the western portion of the country. In addition, slides of spectacular western bridges filled out the clinic portion of the evening meeting. Paul Brennecke assembled the clinic.
“Show and Tell” coordinator Carl Hodkinson leads off this portion of the meeting. Subject of the “Show and Tell” was dioramas.
Highlight of the quarter was Rodney Black’s clinic on signaling. The clinic featured Rodney’s CATS (Computer Automated Traffic System) open source software. We learned how to build a CTC panel utilizing a magnet board and then proceeding to add sensors and controls to make a modern screen based CTC panel. There are several model railroads in our area utilizing CATS including Pat Lana’s (MMR) CRANDIC layout. Here Rodney leads his clinic which all enjoyed.
November is National Model Railroad month and Pat Lana, MMR and Paul Brennecke put together a layout tour. The tour featured N-scale layouts in the Denver area. The three Denver divisions and neighbors of each layout were invited. The June meeting was highlighted with a slideshow of the nine layouts. A couple of the layout photos are shown below:
The Front Range Division meets the third Monday of the month at 7:00pm at the Colorado Railroad Museum in the Delay Junction building. The meeting starts off with the clinic, followed by a “Show and Tell” session and the meeting is concluded with a short business meeting. We do not hold meetings in August and December. In August, we have the FRD picnic, also, at the CRRM and in December we have a Christmas Party off site.
