President: Denny Krausman
Profession: Retired from the Heavy and Highway Construction business and was a partner in the firm retired from.
RMR Office Interests: The main reason I would like to serve as Rocky Mountain Region President is to work closely with the Divisions to better understand their needs and to develop a connection between the Divisions and the Region. I understand each Division will have its’ own unique needs and reasons for existing, but there is a common thread that runs through all of us and that is our love for model railroading. The Region should be the focal point for connecting the Divisions together to aid the individual Divisions in fulfilling their projects, i.e. pulling together to support a Division’s hosting of the Region Convention, supporting Northern Utah’s hosting of the National Convention, supporting other Division’s Train Shows or special projects. It should also be a conduit to the NMRA for Divisions and to support their concerns.
Another goal would be to continue the work started by Gary Myers to insure Region officers, directors, and division superintendents are aware of their duties and responsibilities to the Region, so there is a common ground for interaction.
Other NMRA Offices Held: I am active in the South Suburban Division. I have served 4 years as the Superintendent, 2 years as Assistant Superintendent, have been the newsletter editor the past 6 years, and served as the Convention Chair for the 2015 Region Convention. I have given 3 clinics at Region Conventions, as well as numerous clinics for the Division.
Other Railroad/Modeling Interests: Last year I received the Caboose Hobbies Award for “Best of Show” and enjoy scratch building models as well as building craftsman kits in HO Scale. I model the Santa Fe Railroad and am an active member in Santa Fe Railroad Historical and Modeling Society. I served as the Convention Chair for SFRH&MS National Convention in 2010, the Convention Treasurer in 1999, and am currently the Assistant Chair for the 2019 Convention. I am also an active participant in “Operations” on my layout as well as others.
AP Certificates Completed (if applicable): I have earned 2 certificates of Achievement for Master Builder-Scenery and Master builder-Prototype Modeling and am near completion on 3 more.
Vice President: Jeffery Weymouth
Member Since: November 2015
Profession: I currently work for the United States Air force as a Special Weapons Mechanic since Feb. 2003.
RMR Office Interests: Vice President.
Other Railroad/Modeling Interests: I am the 2015 Vice President of the Hostler's Model Railroad Club. I am in the process of making two modules for the Hostler's Club and will be starting my home layout very soon. Every Friday I am involved with a small group of people who go to each other’s homes to work on their different layouts. I am involved in the OPS sessions on three local railroads (Rob Spangler's, Lee Nicholas, and Gary Petersen's) monthly and another three layouts when they run. I love working on scenery. I will be modeling the BN on my home layout in Western or Central Washington.
Secretary: Jack Haptonstall
Profession: My profession is Mining Engineer, and I received my Engineer of Mines degree from the Colorado School of Mines in 1960. I spent a good part of my career working in foreign locations including Peru, Mexico, Chile, Argentina, etc. I currently have a small mine consulting business, which keeps me pretty busy.
Other NMRA Offices Held: I have been a member of the N.M.R.A. since June 2001. I joined the Front Range Division in 2002, and am currently Assistant Superintendent of the group.
Other Railroad/Modeling Interests: I have also been an active member of the Denver HO Club in the basement of the Colorado Railroad Museum since 2001, and am currently on the Board of Directors of the Club. I have been interested in trains and model trains since I was a little kid, and got my first Marx wind-up train for Christmas. I come by my keen interest in trains honestly, as my dad was a brakeman and conductor on the D&RGW for about 40 years. One of the vivid memories I have as a young boy was when dad took my brother and I up to Ridgway and Dallas Divide to watch the dismantling the old RGS narrow gauge.
I am an avid “narrow gauger,” and have built a medium size HOn3 layout in our basement. I call it the La Plata Division of the D&RGW, and I am currently in the process of converting it to DCC with an NCE system.
I am 79 years old, and have been married to my wonderful wife, Toni, for the past 58 years.
I will be honored to serve as the Secretary for the Rocky Mountain Region, if I am selected for the position.
Treasurer: Don Francis
Profession: I am a registered Architect in the State of Colorado and co-owner of Construction Design Associates – Architects and General Contractors. I am a graduate of the University of Nebraska and have served as Civil Engineer for a BOMARC Missile Squadron in the United States Air Force.
RMR Office Interests: I have been Rocky Mountain Region treasurer since 2008 when I was appointed by Fred Carlson to fill a vacancy. I enjoy doing the work as treasurer and would like to continue doing so.
Other NMRA Offices Held: Nearly 30 year member of the Sunrise Division. I have served as superintendent of Sunrise on three different occasions. Right now I am the coordinator of the Sunrise modular group.
Director: Robert E. Allen
Profession: Retired from banking and retail.
RMR Office Interests: I sought a second term as RMR Director because of my interest in the advancement of model railroading among our youth. As well as the perpetuation of fine modeling and diorama art work within the Pikes Peak Division. I have working acquaintances with the current BSA liaison Kirsten Phillips, and RMR Director Jeff Cahill.
Other NMRA Offices Held: I am currently a 2014 to 2016 member of the RMR Board of Directors. I have also been the Pikes Peak Division Secretary for the last two years.
Other Railroad/Modeling Interests: I have been a HO scale model railroader since the 1970’s. I enjoy modeling the pre-1900 Rocky Mountain area of the United States using modules as my medium. I have had limited involvement with Train Expo Colorado as past acting secretary, and staffing the admission desk at TECO shows. I am a member of The Pikes Peak and Southern Model Railroad, a small group of HO scale modelers that over the Christmas Season displayed at the Colorado Springs Fine Arts Center. I am also involved as a grandfather and booster with the Colorado Springs Youth in Model Railroading club.
AP Certificates Completed : Golden Spike certificate.
Director: Blaine Holbrook
RMR Office Interests: I have 9 years experience working with the Cubs Scouts and two years as Chair of the Bountiful Handcart Days sponsorship committee. I developed the Boxcar Races to attract children to the hobby by building and racing a simple Athearn model box car. I am developing a children’s program for our Division as none existed prior. This involves four steps:
· Providing activities that attract children to participate.
· Work on increasing funds and/or sponsors to start a modeling program.
· Develop or adapt a modeling program for various age groups in Model Railroading.
· Work with Children’s Centers to reach a large number of this demographic.
I have been working to adapt Al Hovey’s concept of small layouts children can build. I would add increasing the detail and quality at various levels of growth. This is not a one or two year project but will take time to put it together. I would work to attract and develop this area by adding youth to our Division membership. This is sorely needed to continue the viability of our hobby.
Other NMRA Offices Held: I am currently on the Board of Directors of the Northern Utah Division of the NMRA.
