STEP 3: VR EXPERIENCE
The EXPERIENCE stage is the highlight of the Business English at Your Fingertips project. After completing Activate (Step 1) and Train (Step 2), students immerse themselves in virtual reality scenarios powered by Uptale, chosen for its ability to deliver authentic, interactive, and adaptive learning experiences. This stage consolidates everything students have learned and allows them to apply their skills in realistic business contexts.
Why This Step Matters
Consolidation of Learning: All the knowledge and skills developed in previous steps—grammar, vocabulary, business concepts, and protocols—are reinforced through VR activities.
Integrated Skills Practice: Students engage in speaking, listening, and reading within authentic business scenarios.
Real-World Simulation: Learners experience situations such as meetings, negotiations, and client interactions in a safe, immersive environment.
Types of Activities
Quizzes: Short, embedded quizzes to check comprehension and reinforce learning.
Speaking in Context: Practice communication in multiple formats—telephone calls, TEAMS meetings, and face-to-face conversations.
Decision-Making Tasks: Mobilize prior knowledge to make strategic choices during simulations.
Gamification: Motivation through stars, achievements, and progress tracking.
Three Proficiency Levels: Activities tailored for beginners, intermediate, and advanced learners.
Sense of Accomplishment: Students earn Stars, achieve milestones like Making a Deal or Closing a Deal, and see tangible progress.
Resources and Tools
Students use the identical business cards, purchase orders (PO), catalogues, business plans and contracts introduced in Moodle.
These documents remain accessible during VR for reference.
Compatible with headsets, tablets, and smartphones, ensuring flexibility.
Suggestions for Teachers
Prepare students by reviewing target structures and vocabulary before the VR session.
Encourage natural use of language during interactions.
Debrief after the session to reinforce learning and address challenges.
Risks
Equipment Handling: Ensure students handle headsets and joysticks carefully to avoid damage or injury.
Actions Needed
Students can exit the VR experience anytime by clicking EXIT, but remind them that doing so will result in the loss of all STARS previously earned.
