OBJECTIVES:
Numbers and letters;
Office supplies and furniture vocabulary;
Telephone protocol and phrases to place and take an order.
STEP 1: ACTIVATE
Verifying and Stimulating Prior Knowledge on Moodle
Overview: This initial phase is designed to assess and activate students’ existing knowledge before introducing new content. Conducted on Moodle, students engage in diagnostic and interactive activities that revisit key concepts related to business transactions and ordering processes.
Activities:
Diagnostic quiz on vocabulary related to ordering, shipping, and inventory.
Matching exercises for common phrases used in placing and taking orders.
Short listening tasks featuring basic ordering dialogues.
Forum discussion: “Have you ever placed an order online or in-store? What was the experience like?”
Goal: Ensure students have a foundational understanding of the topic and are ready to build new skills in the TRAIN phase.
STEP 2: TRAIN
Building Skills Through Interactive Practice on Moodle
Overview: This phase bridges the gap between prior knowledge and immersive VR practice. Students build confidence and fluency through structured, interactive tasks that simulate real-world business communication.
Activities:
Role-play simulations using Moodle chat or video tools (e.g., customer vs. clerk).
Fill-in-the-blank exercises for order forms and invoices.
Scenario-based writing tasks: responding to customer inquiries or confirming orders.
Vocabulary builder: shipping terms, payment methods, and product descriptions.
Mini-assessments to track progress and readiness for VR.
Goal: Prepare students for the complexity and interactivity of the VR experience by reinforcing vocabulary, grammar, and communication strategies.
STEP 3: Experiencing
Real-World Scenarios
Students must have completed STEPS 1 and 2 on Moodle before starting STEP 3. Students will experience two immersive VR scenarios that simulate business ordering environments.
VR CONTEXTS:
In this scenario, you have been asked to play the role of the clerk taking the order. You will assist with the account creation, clarify product details and shipping options, handle special requests, and negotiate discounts. There are three distinct levels, progressing from simple tasks to more challenging ones.

Remind the students that they can always click on the EXIT sign to proceed. However, they will not accumulate STARS.
Review the Briefing and Debriefing Guide before starting this activity to ensure a smooth facilitation process.
Briefing: Contains information about the objectives of each level, as well as any documents to interpret, and professional communication skills students will apply.
Print out the peer evaluations (found in the Briefing and Debriefing Guide) to hand out before the VR experience.
Debriefing: Allow time for partners to give peer feedback. Make a copy of the self-evaluation form and send it to students. The self-evaluation encourages students to reflect on their learning process and helps them to set communication goals.
