Reading for Pleasure

Students at all levels must be encouraged to engage in extensive reading in English, reading books that are age- and level-appropriate and with an emphasis on reading fluency and enjoyment.

This committee was established to set norms for extensive reading in primary, middle and high school grades. It formulated guidelines for teachers on library management and establishing a reading for pleasure program. The committee recommended ways to motivate students to read in a foreign language and to design means to evaluate and provide feedback.

The work of this committee has been published in the “Reading for Pleasure” booklet.
