The ICMP Young Musician Scholarship

London Music Fund Scholarships

John Lyon’s Charity / BMS Scholarships

BMS currently has three scholarship schemes in place for musical children whose parents face financial hardship. We work in partnership with Brent schools to identify children with musical aptitude whose families are facing financial hardship which prevents children from participating in musical activity.

In the academic year 22-23 we are supporting a total of 30 scholars across these schemes.

Scholars activity includes:

  • A weekly instrumental/vocal lesson

  • Membership in a weekly BMS evening centre ensemble

Scholars have access to support with:

  • Examination fees

  • BMS instrument hire

  • Help to purchase printed music or accessories where funds permit

  • A BMS Scholar Mentor

  • Other miscellaneous expenses associated with learning an instrument

The ICMP Young Musician Scholarship - NEW for 22/23

The ICMP Young Musician Scholarship is new for 2022/23 and will initially fund one recipient from within the borough of Brent. Applicants should be from Yr. 7 - 10 and have a passion for beginning or continuing to learn a musical instrument. Through the ICMP Young Musician Scholarship we hope to help young people develop their skills and an understanding of where music could take them in the future. The scholarship will last for 4 years.

Please note this is currently for 2022/23 only. We will not be taking nominations for 2023/24 at this stage.

Applications should be sent to info@brentmusicservice.com and must come from schools, not pupils or parents. Please speak with your school if you would like them to nominate you for this scholarship.

London Music Fund Scholarships

The London Music Fund is currently funding 12 Brent scholars. Pupils are usually in Yr.5 or 6 at the start of the scholarship and must already be learning an instrument to be nominated by their school. Scholarships last for 4 years. We will accept nominations for 23/24 in the Spring Term.

John Lyon's Charity Scholarships

The John Lyon's Charity is currently funding 18 Brent scholars. Pupils are usually in Yr3, 4 or 5 at the start of the scholarship. We are not currently taking a new cohort for 23/24 as this 4 year scheme will be coming to an end. Current scholars will continue to be supported until the end of their scholarship.
