Percussion Workshop

Which instruments are included?

• Tuned percussion - glockenspiel, xylophone, marimba, vibraphone

• Untuned percussion - drum kit, timpani, snare drum, cymbals, congas, bongos, samba drums and too many more to mention!

Which group is right for me?

Junior Percussion is suitable for:

• pupils who have reached Grade 1-3 standard on keyboard/piano, drum kit or percussion of any kind.

• pupils needs to have music reading skills of Grade 1 or above

• entry is by application - if your child does not meet the above criteria but has equivalent skills on another instrument, please contact the BMS office for advice.

Intermediate & Senior Percussion is suitable for:

• pupils who have reached Grade 3+ standard on keyboard/piano, drum kit or percussion of any kind.

• pupils needs to have music reading skills of Grade 3 or above

• entry is by application - if your child does not meet the above criteria but has equivalent skills on another instrument, please contact the BMS office for advice.

What skills will I learn?

• Junior Percussion pupils will learn alongside the Junior Wind & Brass Ensemble

• All pupils will learn orchestral percussion technique and have opportunities to play in the percussion section of a range of BMS ensembles.

• All groups will learn to play Samba which will help develop aural skills, musical memory, ensemble skills, improve timing and provide additional performance opportunities for the group.

• All pupils will have the opportunity to perform in Brent Makes Music at Wembley Arena in July 2022

How do I join?

Membership is through application. Click on the link below and complete the form for the ensemble you would like to join. Your details will be passed to the leader of that ensemble and you should hear from them within a week (during term time).
