Shoreview - Arden Hills loop

A road and trail ride.

Approximate distance: 13 mi

This is a loop ride from Shoreview that passes by Grass Lake, Island Lake, and Lake Johanna and passes through Snail Lake Regional Park, Island Lake County Park, and Tony Schmidt Regional Park. The route goes east to Snail Lake Blvd and then accesses trails in Snail Lake Regional Park passing by Grass Lake and crossing a trail bridge over I-694 to Cty Rd D. The route then goes west to Island Lake County Park and accesses trails that go through the park to Lexington Ave. Next the route goes south to Cty Rd E and then west to Tony Schmidt Regional Park where a part trail is accessed going north into the park. The route follows the trail north to Cty Rd E2 and then follows roads back to Shoreview. The route covers about the same distance on trails as on roads. The road sections are bike-friendly.

Directions:

  • From the Shoreview CC, take Hwy 96 east to Snail Lake Blvd.

  • Go south to Harbor Ln and turn left and access a trail on the left.

  • Follow the trail south passing under Gramsie Rd.

  • Continue south on the trail passing by Grass Lake.

  • After crossing the trail bridge over I-694 take the trail to the west to Cty Rd E.

  • Go west on Cty Rd E to Victoria St.

  • Turn north on Victoria St and then turn left to access a trail in Island Lake County Park.

  • Take the trail north and access a road that goes around the north end of the lake.

  • Near a boat launch, access another trail going south.

  • After a short distance the trail ends at Milton St – continue south.

  • Milton St leads to another trail that curves to the west.

  • Follow the trail to Lexington Ave.

  • Turn south on a trail and turn west on Cty Rd E.

  • Take Cty Rd E west to Lake Johanna beach and Tony Schmidt Regional Park.

  • Locate a park trail on the north side of the road heading north.

  • Take the trail to Cty Rd E2.

  • Turn east on Cty Rd E2 and go to Old Hwy 10.

  • Turn north on Old Hwy 10 and go to Hwy 96.

  • Turn east on Hwy 96 and return to the Shoreview CC.
