Pine Point circuit

A road and trail ride.

This is a loop ride that has lots of variety: It passes by several lakes, includes riding on a portion of the Gateway Trail, includes a visit to the Pine Point Regional Park, and includes a lengthy section that passes through rural Washington County farmland. The route first heads east of Shoreview and then turns south in White Bear Lake to pass south of the White Bear Lake in Mahtomedi. The route continues east and then heads northeast on the Gateway Trail to Pine Point Regional Park. The route then turns north and then west, following county roads passing through farmland before returning to White Bear Lake. The route then turns north to follow the road around Bald Eagle Lake before turning west and south to return to Shoreview. Most of the route is flat but some of the rural road sections in Washington County are somewhat hilly. The road portions of the route have good shoulders.


Directions:

  • From the Shoreview CC, take Hwy 96 east.

  • Continue east past I-35E to Otter Lake Rd.

  • Turn south on Otter Lake Rd. and continue to Scheuneman Rd.

  • Turn east on Scheuneman Rd and then turn south on Hoffman Rd.

  • Take Hoffman Rd to Cedar Ave.

  • Turn east on Cedar Ave, cross Hwy 61 and continue east to E County Line Rd.

  • Turn north on E County Line Rd and go to Cedar St.

  • Turn east on Cedar St which curves to the southeast and becomes Hall Ave.

  • Follow Hall Ave to Wildwood Beech Rd and turn northeast onto that road.

  • Turn right at Ash St and cross Mn Hwy 243 to Mahtomedi Ave.

  • Turn east onto Stillwater Rd which is Washington Cty 12.

  • Access the Gateway Trail on the north side of the road just after Wildwood School.

  • Continue on the Gateway Trail to Pine Point Regional Park.

  • Continue to Norell Ave after the park’s restrooms and take a trail next to the road to the north.

  • At Square Lake Trail, turn west.

  • Continue on Square Lake Trail to Manning Trail.

  • Turn south on Manning Trail and after a short distance, turn west on Washington Cty Rd 7.

  • Continue several miles on Cty Rd 7 to Portland Ave.

  • Turn north on Portland Ave which becomes N County Line Rd.

  • Cross Hwy 61 and when the road curves north it becomes Everton Ave.

  • Stay to the left at the next intersection onto 122nd St which becomes Ethan Ave.

  • When the road curves to the west it becomes 129th St and then Bald Eagle Blvd.

  • Continue around Bald Eagle Lake on Bald Eagle Blvd to Cty Rd H2.

  • Turn west on Cty Rd H2 and continue to Centreville Rd.

  • Turn south on Centreville Rd and continue to Hwy 96.

  • Turn west on Hwy 96 and return to the Shoreview CC.
