Stone Arch Bridge

A road and trail ride.

This is a loop ride south of Shoreview through Roseville and then southwest to the scenic Stone Arch Bridge in Minneapolis. After crossing the bridge, the route goes along W River Pkwy by Bohemian Flats to the Franklin Ave Bridge. After crossing the bridge the route goes north near the U of Mn campus and following the U of Mn Transitway to the Mn State Fairgrounds. After passing through the fairgrounds, the route continues north and east through Roseville and back to the Shoreview CC. The ride is mostly on roads with wide shoulders but also follows the Diagonal Trail and a trail along the W River Pkwy in Minneapolis. The route is mostly flat with some hilly sections when riding in Minneapolis.


Directions:

  • Go west of the Shoreview CC on Hwy 96 to Snail Lake Blvd.

  • Go south on Snail Lake Blvd and near Snail Lake take the trail to the left near Wetland A.

  • Follow the trail under Gramsie Rd and to the trail bridge over I-694.

  • Cross the bridge and then take first trail to the right.

  • Go west on Cardigan Rd and take the first left on Harriet Ave.

  • Follow Harriet Ave to Dale St.

  • Turn south on Dale St and ride to Owasso Blvd N.

  • Turn right on Owasso Blvd N and then left on W Owasso Blvd.

  • Follow W Owasso Blvd to Victoria St.

  • Turn left on Victoria St and then right on Cty Rd C2.

  • Follow Cty Rd C2 to Hamline Ave.

  • Turn left on Hamline Ave and ride to Cty Rd C.

  • Turn right on Cty Rd C and follow the trail along the road west past I-35W to Walnut St.

  • Turn left on Walnut St and ride just past railroad tracks.

  • Turn right onto the Minneapolis Diagonal Trail.

  • Follow the trail to Stinson Blvd and turn south following another trail.

  • Follow the trail south to Hennepin Ave.

  • Cross Hennepin Ave and follow a bike trail along 18th Ave SE to Como Ave.

  • Turn right on Como Ave and follow it to 10th Ave SE.

  • Turn left on 10th Ave SE and then right on SE 8th St, crossing I-35W.

  • Ride along SE 8th St to 6th Ave SE.

  • Turn left on 6th Ave SE and follow it past SE Main St to the Stone Arch Bridge.

  • Cross the bridge and after exiting the bridge go to the left onto a trail along W River Pkwy.

  • Follow the trail along the river past Bohemian Flats to the Franklin Ave bridge.

  • Exit the trail to the right and follow a trail up to the Franklin Ave bridge.

  • Cross the bridge and at the stop light at the other side of the bridge go left onto E River Pkwy.

  • Follow E River Pkwy and turn right onto Ontario St.

  • Follow Ontario St north to University Ave and turn right onto a sidewalk along the street.

  • Ride a block to 23th Ave SE and turn left.

  • Ride a block to the U of Mn Transitway and turn right.

  • Follow the transitway to Como Ave.

  • Cross Como Ave and continue to Commonwealth Ave.

  • Turn right and follow Commonwealth Ave which becomes Dan Patch Ave as you enter the Mn State Fairgrounds.

  • Ride across the fairgrounds and exit at Snelling Ave and Midway Pkwy.

  • Follow Midway Pkwy to Pascal St and turn north.

  • Follow Pascal St past Larpenteur Ave to Garden Ave.

  • Turn east on Garden Ave and ride to Hamline Ave.

  • Turn north on Hamline Ave and ride to Cty Rd B.

  • Turn east on Cty Rd B and ride to Victoria Ave.

  • Turn north on Victoria Ave.

  • Follow Victoria Ave to Lexington Ave and turn north onto a sidewalk adjacent to Lexington Ave.

  • Ride north to Hwy 96 and turn east, returning to the Shoreview CC.
