My name is Grabriel Cahan, I’m 18 and I’m an American racing driver born and raised in New Mexico.
My goal is to be a professional racing driver. My plan is to get to indycar though and I’m starting on the road to Indy.
My inspiration is mainly my dad, but I also looked up to Sebastian Vettel. I started watching F1 when he started winning in 2010, and even though he wasn't a really nice person back then, I just saw how he raced and I thought I wanted to be like him one day. But my dad got me into racing and I used to watch him, so that’s where it started for me.
I think I just wanted to be an F1 driver back then, and I also wanted to be like my dad as well.
I mean I’ve learnt a lot, but one thing I really try to say on top of is just being calm. The nerves make it discouraging when I’m waiting for a race or session, so I try to have fun with it and not worry about too much, especially not worrying about much with my career as a whole.
Gabriel: I would choose Spa-Francorchamps, that’s definitely my favourite track in the whole world.
Gabriel: I would probably tell him to definitely not give up but just work harder. Where I live there wasn’t a lot of racing, so I would probably just tell him to look for other paths in the early part of his career.
Gabriel: I would say the same as myself, just don’t be too discouraged and don’t be worried about how old you are, or your financial background. If you have the confidence to do it you can for sure and just work, and you also have to put most of your priorities to racing. Part of my duty is looking for sponsors, like 99% of what I do is looking for sponsors.
