The Haas F1 team was founded in April of 2014 by industrialist Gene Haas. The team debuted in 2016, making it the first American-led F1 team in three decades. Haas also co-owns a NASCAR team, Stewert-Haas Racing, which is based in the same facility as the F1 team. Guenther Steiner, former Team Principal of Haas, was very involved with Haas' initial entry into Formula 1, and he became their team principal from the start. Due to conflicts between Steiner and Haas, Guenther left the team as team principal in January of 2024, also leaving a series of court battles between the two.
