The Birth of McLaren (1963-1970)
McLaren Racing was founded in 1963 by Bruce McLaren, a New Zealand-born engineer and driver. The team’s early years were marked by struggle, but Bruce’s vision and passion for racing laid the foundation for what would eventually become one of the most successful teams in Formula 1 history. Tragically, Bruce McLaren passed away in 1970 during a test session at the Goodwood Circuit, but his legacy and the team continued under the leadership of his trusted associates.
