By 2000, the team was purchased by Renault which in the same season the team's name was changed to Renault F1 team. Renault won the Constructor's Championship along with the Driver's Championship; won by current Formula 1 driver Fernando Alonso in both 2005 and 2006. In 2011, Lotus got involved as one of the sponsors of the team and the team was replaced by the name, Lotus Renault GP. From 2012 till 2015, the team's name Lotus F1 team was then used. At the end of 2015, Renault took over the team once again.
