What is Prema racing?
Prema Racing was established in 1983 by Angelo Rosin and Giorgio Piccolo. Prema racing has become, Prema racing has become the leading contender in junior single-seater racing. It is widely recognized as the third force in Italian motorsports, sitting just behind F1 teams Ferrari and Alpha Tauri in terms of size, achievements, and competition profile.
PREMA has a history of high-profile partnerships, from multinational companies to automakers and F1 teams. The list includes Honda, Toyota, Renault, Mercedes, Scuderia Ferrari, Red Bull Racing, and international-level players like the Government of Macau (China), Japanese automotive retailer Autobacs and multinational tobacco company Camel.
PREMA is proud of the continued success achieved by its former drivers, including Guanyu Zhou, Mick Schumacher, Charles Leclerc, Lance Stroll, Pierre Gasly, Antonio Giovinazzi, Nicholas Latifi, and Esteban Ocon.
Prema in 2024
Prema's drives in 2024 were Oliver Bearman and Andrea Kimi Antonelli who are both rookies this year for Haas and Mercedes.
Last year, Prema ended up in 5th with 194 points. Last season compared to their 2024 season was certainly not the best but they managed to leave the year with a few wins under their belt. Their two drivers are now progressing to F1 with their respective teams
Haas and Mercedes F1 team.
Achievements and accomplishments:
Afters the title achieved in GP2 Series with Pierre Gasly, PREMA Racing carried on its form in Formula 2 winning driver titles with Charles Leclerc, Mick Schumacher and Oscar Piastri. While Leclerc and Piastri are now racing in Formula 1 for Scuderia Ferrari and McLaren F1 Team, respectively, Schumacher joined Mercedes F1 as a reserve driver after a short-lived career at Haas. Other PREMA F2 graduates achieved remarkable success: Robert Shwartzman is covering Test Driver duties for Scuderia Ferrari, while Nyck De Vries went on to claim the Formula E World title.
Sebastián Montoya moved up from karting to single seaters in 2020, completing two seasons in Italian and ADAC Formula 4 Championships across 2020 and 2021 with 12 podium finishes. Which is pretty impressive.
From there, he moved up to Formula Regional European Championship for 2022, pairing that with a campaign in IMSA Sportscar racing. A cameo in FIA Formula 3 at Zandvoort also brought strong points-scoring results, P8 in both the Sprint and Feature Races with Campos Racing.
He moved up to the Championship full time in 2023 with Hitech Pulse-Eight before going back to Campos Racing in 2024, scoring two podiums across both seasons.
He now steps up to Formula 2 with PREMA Racing.
Gabriele Minì began his career in karting in his native Italy, collecting the Italian Championship in 2017 before graduating to international competition. The following year, he became the Champion in the WSK Super Master Championship and in 2019, he rounded out his karting career with a runner-up finish in the CIK-FIA European Championship.
After a title-winning season in Italian F4 in 2020 was followed by two Formula Regional European campaigns in 2021 and 2022, Minì moved up to FIA Formula 3 competing in the 2023.
He fought for the title in his second season in the Championship narrowly losing out in the final race of the season with PREMA Racing, eventually settling for second in the Standings.
In 2025, Minì will continue with PREMA Racing in FIA Formula 2 having previously taken part in Round 12 of the 2024 season with the team at Baku, finishing third in the Sprint Race.
