Congrats to Vanderbilt, the National Champion and #1 team in the final Composite Top 25 of the season!
After Michigan dropped Game Two of the Los Angeles Super Regional in a 12-inning battle, no one would have been surprised if the Wolverines had gone out quietly in Game Three to top-seeded UCLA. The Pac-12 Champion Bruins led the country with 13 picks in the Major League Baseball Draft (tied with Vanderbilt) and had yet to drop a series—or even a midweek game—all year. We had quite the pitching duel on our hands tonight as Vanderbilt (57-11) beat Louisville, 3-2, after a thrilling finish. Vanderbilt (56-11) had a big offensive 5th inning and it turned out to be all they needed to beat Mississippi State (52-14). Kumar Rocker (W, 11-5) was electric as usual, pitching six innings and allowing one earned run. Of his 95 pitches, 63 of them went for strikes and he struck out six Bulldog batters. For the offense, . . . (continue reading)
