SD Player

Here's my wiki for putting together a SDP (SD Card based music player).

Tir Na forum thread that started the interest

This will read music from a normal sized SD card, and output I2S, so you need a I2S DAC to use this.

Parts I used

Wiring

USE

Pretty simple to use.

Need a 16G or smaller CF card.

Add music to the card, but it will only directory deep. If you try to nest directories, it won't display on the screen.

Buttons are as shown above

You really should try to get a remote.

The one above came with a different SDP, but works with this one.

Makes it much more user friendly.

SD Cards

The Panasonic SLC industrial flash cards are supposed to sound good, but they are expensive.

Note the Panny SLC_Lite or Consumer Plus SD cards are really MLC configured to be like SLC, so probably between SLC and MLC in sound.

Panny SD Table

8Gb Panny SD cards RP-SDFC08DA1 ($162 from Digikey)

Micro SD are RP-SMSC08DA1 ($143 from Digikey or $133 from Mouser but not in stock at either.

Octopart stock for RP-SMSC08DA1

Another option is

Integral Endurance 16GB Class 10 SD / SDHC - SLC - INSDH16G10-ENDU

Available in UK but they say they will ship international, around $70 with shipping. But said to not work with later firmware.
