Atlanta Marie Carrera Presents
Exploring Alcohol Inks
Exploring Alcohol Inks
Exploring Alcohol Inks began as an Independent Study into this fluid art medium. My goals were to examine products and techniques and, like the medium itself, see what evolved.
Discoveries abounded as I navigated through various methods on my journey to produce impactful art pieces.
Building off my many art classes at UNCW, I found my own pathways through mixed media and into digital art.
Atlanta Marie Carrera is a non-traditional student currently in the Studio Art program at UNCW with minors in Art History, English, and Psychology. Her art studio is located in the Ogden area of Wilmington and her art business, Atlanta’s ART, has been operating since 2012.
Mediums used in Atlanta’s 2D art encompass acrylic, alcohol ink, watercolor, pastel, colored pencil, collage, and photography. Her 3D art incorporates laser engravings, wood cuts, and 3D printing. Working with programs by Adobe and holding a Master Class Certification in Procreate, Atlanta’s digital art includes anything from digital illustrations to designs for logos, posters, flyers, book covers, and websites.
Atlanta has written, illustrated, and published three children’s books: Space Explorers, Sounds Like a Dinosaur, and The Colorful Eggs. Other publications that she has been involved in include editing, contributing to, and publishing of her sister’s book, Child of Light, as well as digital illustrations for two UNCW published books.
In the Spring 2025 semester, Atlanta had two artworks selected for the All Student Art Show at the Ann Flack Boseman Gallery at UNCW, and another one of her pieces was chosen for the UNCW Atlantis, a creative magazine. She has been featured in the online magazine CanvasRebel and on the cover of Ogden Living Magazine. Atlanta’s artwork can be seen on the walls of various local businesses and currently on products in the New Hanover County Arboretum gift shop.
Atlanta has a long history of using her art for fundraising campaigns for various charities. She regularly sponsors a tree for the annual Cape Fear Festival of Trees as a fundraiser for Lower Cape Fear LifeCare, and her 3D creations combine her art series and poetry to make unique displays with meaningful themes. She has recently established her own 501c as the Atlanta’s ART Charitable Gift Fund, as well as an endowment at UNCW known as the Atlanta’s ART Education Enrichment Fund for the benefit of UNCW’s Art Department.
