"Heaven's Light" is based on my series of three paintings of envisioning Heaven. The main ornaments were created by 3D printing objects modified using Tinkercad. The arches were designed in Adobe Illustrator and then etched and cut using a laser engraver. The paper lantern designs were created using Adobe Illustrator and cut out with a Cricuit machine.
Heaven's Light
By Atlanta Marie Carrera
Underneath the layers of Heaven’s light,
breathes the soul within me that smiles.
Time unfolds a story of Heaven’s grace,
reaching up through a mirror of light.
And tears flow freely from my heart,
as I put my faith in mindful thought.
Echoes of life’s moments,
suspended above,
transforming into joyful praise!

Using art from my “Christmas Series,” I had ceramic ornaments made. Then, we found, assembled and modified ornaments to match the images.

"Heart of Gold" is dedicated to my loving husband and the many memories we have made over the years.
Dementia (represented in purple) grows slowly; entangling one's mind, but one's soul; their inner spirit (represented in gold), remains hidden deep within.
Our entry is designed to illustrate the inner struggle of a mind being overcome with memory loss. Each painting on the tree "hides" a poem (on the reverse side) which explores our "Search of Spirit." Through this journey, we are enlightened in ways we never imagined.

Festival of Trees - Lower Cape Fear Hospice
Inspired by the annual Nutcracker Ballet performed by the Wilmington Ballet for the benefit of Lower Cape Fear Hospice. Dancers in various poses are cut from paper, embellished, and assembled along with paper doilies. Ornaments are swirled with acrylic paint. Other ornaments are filled with snowflake cutouts.
Snow Angels dance,
in a field of white,
arms move like wings,
to the rhythm of life.
Feet shuffling slow,
in a graceful ballet,
touching the snow,
getting lost in their play.
Snowflakes like stars,
fall from the sky,
musical notes,
from angels on high.
Icicles sparkle,
tears frozen in time,
memories of childhood,
set free in our minds.
Pop Up Fundraiser for Hospice and the Wilmington Ballet
Setup booth offering cards, ornaments, and coloring books during the performance of the Nutcracker Ballet. All sales donated.
My Angel's Series artwork was created in memory of my grandmother, Atlanta King Taylor. We printed my art from this series and cut them into butterfly shapes. Then, we added a glittered background, a clothes pin for the body and wire for the antennas to complete the butterflies.
Butterfly Tree
by Atlanta Marie Carrera
The butterfly tree
weaves golden dreams
with a rainbow of smiles.
Countless wings
soaring upward
leave a trail of love.
An unknown angel
leads spheres of light
as good deeds shine.
Happiness flows
like a river of joy
through bright colored wonder.
