HOTFIXES, RWG & SERVER SETUP — Q&A
Q: How do I install new hotfixes on a HostHavoc server?
Use FTP access.
Steps:
Connect to your server via FTP
Go to the Mods folder
Delete the mod folders you are replacing
Upload the new hotfix files fresh
Do not overwrite old files.
Q: Can I just replace files instead of deleting first?
No.
If you see hundreds of files with the same name:
You likely missed deleting old mod folders
Or replaced instead of fully removing
Always:
Delete the entire mod folder being updated
Upload the new version clean
Replacing files can cause:
Rolling red errors
XML conflicts
Broken systems
Q: Do players also need to update?
Yes.
If the server updates:
All connecting players must update their local Mods folder
Mismatched versions will cause rolling red errors
Players only need to update their own mod folder.
Q: Do I need to create a new world after installing hotfixes?
Not always.
Existing worlds may continue working, but:
Stability is not guaranteed
For major updates, a fresh world is safer
RANDOM WORLD GENERATION (RWG)
Q: What’s the best way to start fresh?
Use Random World Generation (RWG).
Advanced Gen is optional.
Default settings are fine.
Q: Should I enter something in the seed?
Yes.
You should always:
Enter a custom seed
Use a different seed each time if you want a different world
Leaving the seed blank may result in repeated or unintended generation results.
Q: Are there seeds to avoid?
There are no specific banned seeds for Asylum, but:
Always generate using RWG
avoid manually editing world files
Ensure all players use the same generated world
Q: Does smaller map size load faster?
Yes.
Smaller maps:
Generate faster
Load faster
Use less RAM
Recommended for lower-end PCs:
6K or 8K maps
Q: How do I reduce multiplayer loading time?
Pre-generate the map.
Steps:
Generate the world in Single Player
Locate it in AppData → Roaming → 7DaysToDie → GeneratedWorlds
Zip the world folder
Send it to your friend
They place it in the same GeneratedWorlds location
This prevents their PC from generating the world on first join.
Q: Do we need to resend the map every time we play?
No.
Only when generating a brand-new RWG map.
After that:
Both players can continue playing normally
No need to resend files
COMMON ISSUES

Possible causes:
High difficulty settings

Check:
Difficulty level

Old mod folders still exist
Solution:
Delete all replaced mod folders
Reinstall fresh
