Ham Radio Quest – Activation Guide (Asylum Overhaul)

Q: Why isn’t the Ham Radio quest working?

The Ham Radio quest must be activated in a true vanilla trader — the original traders from the base game.

It will ONLY trigger correctly at:

Trader Joel

Trader Rekt

Trader Jen

Trader Bob

Trader Hugh

Common Issues

Using Custom Traders,

It will NOT activate at:

CompoPack traders

Custom POI traders

Overhaul-added traders

Modded trader variants

Even if they look similar — they don’t count.

Confusing “Old Vanilla” with Current Vanilla,

Some players used older pre-TFP update trader prefabs and assumed they were vanilla.

If it’s not the current base game trader prefab, the quest will not register.

How To Fix It

Locate a confirmed vanilla trader.

Accept the Ham Radio quest there.

Track the quest immediately.

Do not switch traders mid-activation.

Quick Rule

If the trader building came from:

CompoPack

A custom overhaul pack

A server-added prefab

It will not work.

Vanilla trader only. No exceptions.

If issues continue after confirming a real vanilla trader, check:

Fresh install

Correct Asylum version

No conflicting trader mods

NOTE

This will be updated soon, so that it will work with any traders but as of 25/02/2026 this hasnt been implimented yet! keep an eye on the discord updates for further info when it is available
