Q How to perform a full clean reinstall before installing Asylum Overhaul?
Sometimes old files, failed updates, or leftover mod data can corrupt the game. A full clean reinstall removes all old data before installing the overhaul for 7 Days to Die.
Go to #asylum-updates and download the current Asylum version from there before starting the process.
Uninstall the game through the Steam application.
After uninstalling:
• Go to:
Steam/steamapps/common/
• Delete the remaining 7 Days To Die folder if it still exists.
Go to:
C:\Users\[YourUsername]\AppData\Roaming
Delete the 7DaysToDie folder.
Reinstall the game normally through Steam.
Navigate to:
Steam/steamapps/common/7 Days To Die
Double-click 7dLauncher
Then go to:
Tools → Clean Game Data
Select ALL options and run the clean.
In the Steam client:
• Right click 7 Days to Die
• Select Properties
• Go to Installed Files
• Click Verify integrity of game files
Start the game once and generate a quick Navezgane world.
This recreates the required folder:
AppData/Roaming/7DaysToDie
Exit the game once it loads.
Take the Asylum files downloaded earlier and place them into the Mods folder located here:
C:\Users\[YourUsername]\AppData\Roaming\7DaysToDie\Mods
Start the game again and generate a Random World Generation (RWG) map.
Recommended test size: 6K
Once the map loads, generate a log file and send it for review if issues continue.
This process will completely wipe:
• All saves
• Player profiles
• Local worlds
This is intentional. Corrupted files are a common cause of mod issues, and a clean reinstall ensures the overhaul installs correctly.
