Here we'll go over how to purchase an Exploration roll, how the loot and landmark systems work, and everything else you'll need to know on your journey!
Please keep in mind that like most of ASH, Exploration is still in BETA and may be subject to changes!

Use the table to the left to see where your character is able to explore!
As a rule of thumb, the more expensive and the higher the rank, the higher the risk, the higher the reward.
While Blue and Green zones might not leave your wolf injured, Orange and Red zones are fraught with danger... But also rarer loot drops and interactions.
So starting with step one, you'll have to keep in mind what rank your character is in their respective pack - this is directly tied to which areas they can visit.
There are five colours on the map, each representing ranks 7-3 in the pack standings.Â
Exploration works as a purchase, a roll, and a submission.
You purchase an Exploration roll, you get a note back with your information, and you create a piece and submit it to claim your loot!
Easy enough, right?
NOTE: you may purchase an Exploration roll once every two IRL weeks! Your character will be gone canonically for about a week; this counts even with far away destinations.
(Think of it as one week away, one week to recuperate.)
If you've made a purchase but had to wait for a roll, you can still make another purchase as long as the original one was purchase two weeks before.
Now, you can either receive a random prompt with your Exploration rolls, or choose to just roll for loot and a generalized description of the area your character travels to.
PLEASE INDICATE IF YOU WOULD LIKE A PROMPT UPON PURCHASE.
To purchase an Exploration prompt, navigate to the support ticket section on the discord server, and click on the 'create ticket' button beneath the Explore tab.
Once clicked, you will be brought into a newly made ticket!Â
Follow the instruction on the ticket to specify where you'd like to go, and with which character!
In this example, I've asked for a prompt along with my loot roll.Â
Normally if you receive a prompt you do not have to use it - HOWEVER, if you roll a higher rarity of an interaction (special, legendary, mythical - which will be indicated in your roll) you cannot change the parameters of what happens!
For this example, it's just a regular prompt, so one is typed out and sent!
You will also receive a loot roll detailing what your character found on their excursion, and whether or not they have received an injury
The way loot works, is once it's rolled, you MUST submit an exploration based piece (art, literature) and submit and cash it to receive said loot.
Please cash your Exploration ON the exploration ticket so we can keep everything together!
Exploration pieces are subject to submission guidelines.
Along with your piece, you get to pick the specificity of what your character has found!Â
In this example, Hale found one foreign hawk feather.Â
This means the feather she found is not native to her pack, so I'll navigate to the Stelune pack territory page to see what kinds of hawks live there to see what might be available in Stelune territory, and I can now select a foreign one instead.
This works the same with any pack and their respective native/non native animals and plants.
Once cashed, the items will be processed and added to your character inventory - you'll receive a message before the ticket is closed.
And that's it for this portion, you'll get your Dust and some little trinkets to use as accessories or for Pack Purchases or accessories for your wolf!
Once you receive your prompt you have a full month from the date of processing to submit your piece. If you fail to submit anything before the due date, you will not receive a refund or your loot.
For now, we ask that if your character is on another packs territory, that they avoid the pack itself - we WILL be implementing 'visitation' as it were in a future update!
If you sustain an injury you can come up with a story about it - we just ask that you avoid your character being attacked by a mysterious pack. A loner or two is fine, but refrain from making it a large group of wolves.
For now, we only have base level prompts, but in the future once they're polished off we will be implementing localized NPCs, legendary encounters, special Exploration-only loot and more!

NOTE: As of right now, wolves MUST be in the same pack to purchase an Exploration prompt together.
Still up in the air whether we'll allow cross-pack Exploration in the future.
So, you wanna have your character and another player's go on an Exploration together? Great!
It's almost exactly the same as submitting a single player Exploration - simply add the other character's name onto the purchasing ticket and we will add them into the channel!
For loot payouts, both characters will receive the SAME loot roll, though they can submit and choose different specifics (if the drop is an eagle feather, each player can choose a different eagle species).
The exploration piece can be either a collab, a roleplay, or two separate pieces, it's up to you entirely, but they MUST be completed by the end date, as per the single player rules.
Once the pieces are completed, reply to the prompt as usual (if there are two separate pieces, have each member reply to it), then when the loot is rolled, you may then reply with your specifics.
While prompts are able to be passed on if you have an idea you'd like to do, if you roll an injury, said injury cannot be ignored and will still apply to the character, even if you decide on a different story beat.
Having an injury, mechanically, means your character cannot roll for another Exploration for a certain amount of time, dependant on the level of injury. In order to 'heal' from their injury before that time is up, you can either buy healing items from Vanity, or create a piece or pieces (injury dependant) in which your character is seeking medical attention from their packs healers.

Your character is unable to explore for 30 IRL days.

Now, you may have noticed that the map is entirely covered with fog, and that's purposeful. With Exploration, you have a small percent chance to uncover a Landmark on the respective area you're exploring. With every Landmark uncovered, the tiles will slowly recede until the area is entirely free of mist!Â
There are five Landmarks per zone and number.
When a Landmark is rolled, the player will receive the usual loot roll and injury spiel, but they will get a unique prompt of them discovering the Landmark, complete with a write up and photo of the area. Their character's name will be recorded on this page as the one who first discovered said Landmark!
They're not terribly rare, but they're not common either, so get out there and get exploring!
