Companions, as the name might imply, are companion animals you can purchase for your characters!
They serve as sort of secondary characters, and while they don't gain Dust themselves, you can use the Dust from their bonded wolf or other creature to purchase accessories for them if you want.
Companions can interact with other companions and other wolves independent of their bonded wolf! They simply won't amass any Dust as previously mentioned.
To see which animals are available to your wolf, navigate to their respective pack website and check the territory section for links to the packs matching National Parks. Anything listed here (within size constraints) is available through regular purchase - but you can always buy a Foreign Companion from Vanity!
Companions must be animals - insects/arthropods are not allowed as companion creatures. There will be a purchasable/lootable item for your wolf to attract insects later!
In ASH, we allow up to three companions per character, but with a bit of a catch.
There are three sizes to companions; small, medium, and large.
If you think of it like slots, you have three slots; small companions only take up one slot, medium take up one and a half, and a large one takes up all three. You cannot go above the three slots, so while you can mix and match a little bit with the medium and small, large are limited to being the only companion should you choose one.
Below is a visual representation of how the slots work, and what options are available to you!
Foreign companions fall under the same rules.

If the animal is on the cusp of sizes, it will be up to the player to decide via 'height/length/wingspan' in the companions biography.

KEEP IN MIND
REMINDER; unless specifically plotted and consent is given from all involved parties, familiars cannot be used in fights against other player characters or NPCs!
Companions are only available to wolves who are above rank 8 (so 7 and up)!
If your Companion animal has fingers, please refrain from having them braid or 'decorate' your wolfs fur.
Outlanders are allowed ONE companion at a time, no matter the size.
Like Outlanders, Other Creatures CAN have a companion, but only one no matter the size.
Should an Outlander join a pack, they will keep their familiar and then be able to purchase another (size allowing) as a pack wolf.
Outlanders must pay Vanity's fee for a companion, these prices are for pack wolves.
Aside from Dust, what else do I need to send in for a companion?
To purchase a companion, you MUST have an application drawn and a biography written up within our character creation guidelines to submit with your purchase. PLEASE add the length/wingspan/inches of your companion so we can determine the sizing.
You cannot pre-purchase a companion 'slot'. As stated above, you MUST submit a biography with the purchase.
Your companion must fall within the general standard size and colours of the species, unless mutations or injuries are purchased and applied (the same way you would for a wolf or other creature character).
To purchase, simply send in a single cashing note with their biography/application and their purchase numbers and staff will take care of the rest.
You MAY bring a companion in with a new character, however - just add the companion cost onto the wolf/other character slot cost!
You may purchase more than one companion at once, provided you have the Dust to do so.
These purchases can take a few days to a week to review and process.
