Every member of Starlit Horizons is to be treated equally and with respect. We are all human and it’s important to remember we all have our own thoughts and feelings behind the screen! If you happen to witness slurs or terms of this nature being used in A Starlit Horizon, talk to one of the staff about it. Derogatory/hurtful terms will not be tolerated - this includes racial, homophobic, sexist, and any other slurs of the sort as well.
Above all, treat others how you would want to be treated.
Please be advised that this group may have content unsuitable for children, and will only allow members who are 18 and older.
While we do have an age limit, we do not allow sex or sexual themes in this roleplay.
BE HONEST WITH US. We can’t fix anything if you don’t tell us your concerns regarding the RP/its members. If you have suggestions or concerns, please note the group! We don’t bite. We want to focus on including all of its members, but if you have a problem, we won’t know unless you speak up. We aren’t mind readers, as cool as that would be!
Keep in mind that staff and leaders are volunteers, and have their own lives outside of the roleplay. Answers and response times may vary, especially if multiple points of view and discussion needs to take place beforehand! If a mistake is made, a polite note to the group, or a DM on Discord is more than enough.
Speaking of Discord - joining the Starlit Discord server is a requirement! This is how we facilitate sending timely announcements and warnings, and a ticket system.
PLEASE do not message the admins on their personal accounts looking to join, or to send feedback - if you need to talk to an admin, please note the group.
Communication is key! Always try to make sure that you and your roleplaying partner(s) are on the same page; and if, on the off chance, something during an interaction between characters upsets you, then talk about it! Being in a roleplaying group requires mature and effective communication for everyone’s comfort.
For bigger, more involved plots within your pack, please run the idea by your pack leader before finding people to participate. This could include creating a pack wide hunt or event, or just a fun group collab.
That being said, large/major plots must be approved by staff before it kicks off. We want to make sure that it lines up with workings behind the scenes, but also that certain actions will, in fact, have consequences. If your character commits a murder, has a cross pack relationship, violates pack laws, or something that involves more than one pack, you MUST clear it beforehand.
Things that must be cleared are (but not limited to);
A breach of pack laws or religious beliefs
Anything that involves cross-pack interaction
Natural disasters/major storms
Murder (attempted or otherwise)
Kidnapping
If you’re not sure, just ask!
In Starlit, we do not allow pieces that use the following topics; rape, sex, sexual assault, suicide. We ask that you please refrain from using these as story lines to keep from triggering viewers or fellow players.
If you have a piece that might be considered sensitive (extreme swearing, verbal assault/abuse, violence, etc) please tag it accordingly. For literature or roleplay, please tag it at the top of the document for better visibility. We are a mature roleplay, and some material may be offensive, but the opinions and actions of the characters do not reflect the views of the group.
Unless spoken about IN CHARACTER, we ask that you keep OOC and IC information separate. Your character doesn’t have to be naive by any means, but no character can anticipate everything before it happens or hear every word being said. On that same note, please remember that IC reactions and words are just that - reactions and opinions of the character, and not the player. If you cannot keep IC and OOC separate, staff may need to intervene; another character insulting or thinking poorly of your character is not the player insulting or thinking poorly of you.
Please remember that romantic/intimate relationships (whether it be a love interest or a friend), don’t happen in a day! Allow your characters to progress and develop in a timely manner. Prospective couples must have at least four canonical pieces together submitted and accepted to the group before purchasing a mateship (in whatever form that takes for them)!
Flings and one-night stands are different and can be purchased after running this by staff first!
Godmodding, auto hitting, powerplaying. The unholy trinity. We do not allow people to take control of/harm another person’s character without their explicit permission to do so. Also, please remember that your characters aren’t invincible! Unless discussed beforehand, your character will likely sustain injuries during a fight.
So, while we are still working on upping numbers and filling out packs, NPC’s will be around in ASH. Over the next few months/years, these NPC’s will start being filtered out (old age, wars, accidents, leaving, etc) to make way for player characters. But, while they’re around, you are more than welcome to use them to pad out your stuff!
For now, NPC's are just a nameless mass with the exception of a few important NPC's that the leader do small write ups for. These will be listed on your pack page, and may be open to auditions in the future, depending on how your pack leader plans on using them!
We ask that you try to refrain to creating names and personalities for NPC's - simply referring to them as
in roleplays as 'she had been out with another hunter' or 'he spent the day with the other guards', etc.
NPC’s can be used in submissions, but we ask that you keep them to background characters and either non speaking roles, or just a few words. Think of them more as filler for things rather than actual individuals with fleshed out personalities.
A player character cannot (without staff permission) injure or kill an NPC.
A player character cannot form a romantic relationship/mate with an NPC.
As a good rule of thumb, anything that stays in character, or involves plots and ideas that stay within your characters pack/pack territory, that’s a note/message for your pack leader!
For things that require backend work like purchases, activity checks, things that involve multiple packs, that is in staff jurisdiction.
If you note the wrong group of people, don’t worry - you’ll be pointed in the right direction! We know it can be a little confusing. As the group grows, we’ll be able to make a comprehensive list of who does what to make it easier to follow. For now, we have a small one to look at;
Staff
Cross pack plots
Natural disaster plots
Activity check maintenance
Dust Cashing
Limb loss or severe injury (can be either, honestly)
Pack Leader
Packwide collaborations (lit or art)
Packwide plots inside the territory
Breaking pack laws
Purchases
