With 21 years of teaching experience and a strong customer service background, I am able to approach a wide variety of situations with grace and a good sense of humor.
One of the key components of a successful middle school teacher is being prepared with lessons that are both skill-focused and flexible. As soon as the students walk in the door, you must be ready to engage and teach them. You must also be able to read a room and understand if the lesson is going well or needs to be adapted in the moment. This is one of the many gifts that teaching has given me as I am now able to transfer this skill to other situations.
Creating a safe and welcoming environment is also very important. One of the important components is to have a good sense of humor and be able to laugh at yourself. The most part of creating a welcoming community is to be a good listener.
