The elements of art and principles of design will be explored. Skills and techniques will be applied through the implementation of the art and design projects. Development of skills needed to analyze and interpret the cultural and social influences in art and design will be enhanced.
The five phases of design thinking will be adapted within each project. From the empathize phase to the testing phase of design, students will practice the process of design thinking that is iterative, flexible and focused on collaboration between designers and users. The emphasis on bringing ideas to life based on how real users think, feel and behave will be observed.
Artistic perception, creative expression, historical and cultural context, aesthetic valuing, connections, relations, applications that connect and apply to what is learned in visual arts and design with other art forms and subject areas along with careers will also be examined.
