> Students will draw half of a portrait that represents a character within them. With the other half of the actual portrait from the first drawing assignment, students will draw a character on the other side. This could be a fun and made up character that represents something about them.
It can also be two or three characters in one.
> Students will make a self portrait split down the middle. One side will be a printed portrait of themselves (this is the other half from the first actual portrait).
The student will draw the other side, a character design drawing that represents some part of their personality.
> Students should be creative in drawing the other half.
(it should be appropriate content).
> Students will create the other half that shows technical skills using the pencils, color, shading, value, texture, and composition by learning about each term and how they look in a work of art.
Again, you may use a grid or not with this portrait. Since it's your other character, it may be asymmetrical for the facial features.
Here is where you start to add your details of the drawing. Add your values and texture.
Color may be added here as well.
Here is where you put the final touches on your drawing. Does it need more value (darken or lighten certain areas, add a bit more color). It would be cool to put Portrait 1 and portrait 2 together and see the progress with your drawing techniques.
How did your final turn out?
What do you like most about it? What do you like least about it?
What changes would you make to it?
I hope you had fun creating your other half or a character within.
I created my character based on my interests such as football (take a good look at the eye ball). Also, from two of my favorite characters, Superman and Super Sayian Goku. These characters go beast mode when they need to. This is how I feel when I play football.
Check out the progression of the drawing in the next section.
