Turn everyday objects into works of art and illustrations.
Have you ever seen faces or animals in your food or thought, “Hey, this popcorn looks like a poodle.”
Inspired by the art from Victor Nunes, students will create art from everyday objects. These objects can be scissors, tape, paperclips, leaves, snacks, and more.

Nunes’ art is a great example of pareidolia, which is our propensity to give meaning to random objects (like in this post about seeing faces in random objects).

Chain Turtle Shell
Using a chained necklace or keychain type item, Victor Nunes creates a shell for a turtle.

Using rubber bands, Victor Nunes created faces with twists and turns from the rubber bands.
Orange - Hot Air Balloon
Using half and orange, Victor Nunes creates a hot air balloon.
Gather materials and items you would like to use to create drawings. Items may include: rubber bands, bottle caps, fruits (grapes, oranges, kiwi), leaves, etc.
You will need a few sheets of paper to draw your creations. Place the item on your sheet of paper. Draw what you think would be a cool creation. See examples and links for more inspiration.
Draw your creations. Take a photo of them and submit to Google Classroom. You must have at least eight (8) drawings, and three (3) different objects you drew from.
To earn 100 points on this project:
1. Include three (3) or more objects create your art.
2. At least eight (8) drawings. Have a variety of scale for each drawing. (Large and small drawings, depending on the object you use).
3. Composition can be separate drawings or create a scene with the objects.
4. Include line and value within the drawings.

The example here uses rosemary. I have a huge rosemary plant shrub in the backyard. Check out the characters and items drawn in this example.
