A Note from the Team
No matter the age of a child, new challenges will always arise — and that includes infants and toddlers. As children grow, develop, and become more independent, their behaviors also change. Challenging behaviors may begin to appear. These challenges are sometimes simply a result of the new skills the child is developing. For example, as infants become more mobile, they may throw more tantrums to express their desire for independence.
At times, when a child is struggling to learn a new skill, they may develop behaviors that reflect their frustration. For instance, a child may bite another child or an adult because they haven’t yet learned how to communicate in another way. It is important for us to be able to identify, understand, prevent, and respond effectively when young children exhibit challenging behaviors.
