A Note from the Team
Being intentional on setting up daily routines and the environment can help young children feel confident and secure, paving the way for social-emotional growth. This security promotes children's active and safe exploration and learning and facilitates positive child-peer and adult-child interactions. When we have schedules and routines in place we will observe a decline in challenging behaviors.

Why and how do schedules and routines support infants’ and toddlers’ social-emotional development?
Schedules and routines provide infants and toddlers with a sense of security and stability through predictability. This consistency helps young children feel safe, which is essential for healthy social-emotional development. From an early age, babies begin to recognize and respond to familiar routines, such as feeding, diapering, and sleeping. These predictable caregiving patterns help infants feel confident and secure in their environment.
For toddlers, routines also support the ability to adapt to new situations and transitions. Knowing what to expect throughout the day can reduce anxiety and prevent challenging behaviors. When children are consistently exposed to routines, they develop trust in their caregivers and surroundings. This trust fosters emotional regulation, independence, and positive social interactions.
By creating a nurturing and predictable environment, caregivers provide the foundation infants and toddlers need to explore, connect with others, and develop a strong sense of self.
