The environment sets the tone for the infant and toddler learning community. Choose tones that are soothing, reduce clutter, play soft music and nature sounds. This will set a tone of peace and safety.
Designing this environment is a key aspect to encouraging confidence and independence in young children. Without this skill, a teacher can inadvertently trigger negative behavior.

Great infant and toddler environments encourage appropriate movement. Read Toddlers on the Move! Brainstorm ways you can encourage the development of movement in and out of the room.
Review the checklist. Ensure that you have included all of these in your environment.
Take pictures of the items on the checklist. Reflect and complete the checklist based on your photos.
Share your images and completed checklist with your coach. Discuss items that are working well and those you are still struggling with.
