Early Childhood Special Education hosts two on-going projects. Our Building Arkansas Strong through Inclusive Classrooms project looks at ensuring practices are in place to support the active involvement of students with disabilities in regular preschool programs. This must come with all necessary supports the child is entitled to receive under the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act. Our second project, the Arkansas EC Pyramid Model Project, works to provide practices, support, and interventions to ensure that children have the adult interactions skills, peer interactions skills, and regulation skills to fully participate in the classroom setting and meet expectations for learning. With both projects, our goal is access. Access for all children in our state to a quality pre-kindergarten education system.
For this reason, our project websites have merged into one site with a sole purpose - the purpose of guiding educators to the key evidence-based practices that have shown the most significant impact on the outcomes of children who may be struggling. Be aware, this site is intended for those who have participated in the trainings, have created the necessary program foundations for success, and have coaching and support to ensure fidelity of implementation. For those just visiting the site, and who are not part of our projects, while you can gain an understanding of practices that you may want to try, there will be difficulties in implementing alone, and you may not see the full benefits.
Please begin here with us. On this page we have outlined the major steps that a program must take to complete their journey each year. This cycle is circular and repeats itself on an annual basis. If at any point you have questions, contact your State Support Coach, either Fabiola Amburgy or Alesa Lambert.
Embrace the journey to the success of all of your children. Take the time to marinate in their accomplishments - great or small!

The opportunity to participate in the projects requires a commitment to attend training. The calendars have the trainings that are scheduled by the projects. If you have any questions about these trainings, please contact your State Support Coach, Fabiola Amburgy or Alesa Lambert.
At application, programs are asked to put together a consistent set of individuals who will serve as the core site leadership team. This leadership team will contact team members and establish a monthly meeting time for August through May. The team will begin the year by establishing baseline data using the required baseline assessment tool. While this tool is different for each project, the purpose is the same - determining where the program need to begin its growth process.
Use your programs baseline assessment tool.
Complete and or review the tool to determine the strengths and needs of your program.
What does the data tell you about the current reality of the program? Why?
The team will develop an action plan using the Baseline Data from Step 2. This plan will focus on area(s) that your team determines to need improvement. The coaching team will work in this form to develop goals that support improvement.
It is essential to establish an agreement between the parts that will be involved in the process

Gather consent forms for children in your class. The coaching and practice videos are much more realistic when there is a fully view of your class, and you are not trying to keep a child's face out of the line of the camera.
Take time to check that all documentation is completed within timeframes.
