At some point you may have a student in your section that reaches out about circumstances which have impacted their ability to complete course work (e.g., medical condition, family matters etc.) Please be sure to always lead with empathy and be compassionate to students. Remember that we are working with professional teachers who also have their own lives outside of the course. We try to do whatever we can to accommodate students so that they can successfully complete their course.
The AQ office has created a 'Student Accommodations' tab in the course menu of all sections. This section will provide students with important instructions on how to go about receiving accommodations. It is the student's responsibility to reach out to their instructor and the AQ Office at the ONSET of the course if accommodations are required.
Accommodations You May Consider as an Instructor
1. Flexible deadlines (remember you have 7 days to submit grades at the end of the course. Keep this in mind when granting extensions. For any extensions beyond these 7 days, please contact the AQ Office for approval.)
2. Differentiated assignment responses (e.g., recorded audio responses etc.)
If you have student who has made a particular accommodation request, please reach out to the AQ office for guidance (AQ@trentu.ca)
