All students should be able to easily navigate the course and interpret each piece of information posted. When ensuring accessibility in your course, please think about the following components:
In the new Blackboard, we no longer have access to change the colour theme of courses. Instead, Blackboard has set a default colour scheme to ensure readability. Please ensure that any time you create text within your course (e.g., Task Board, Announcements or Module content) that you use a font, size and colour that will ensure it can be read by all.
Be cautious of keeping all fonts consistent throughout your course if you are adding content at any point. All fonts used throughout the course should be the same. We recommend staying with black coloured font for course content, adding a contrasting colour for titles and links.
All videos embedded in the course should have a closed captioning feature available. All Youtube videos have this built into each video. Please watch the video below for a great example of why closed captioning is so important!
