As a player have you ever wanted to run a small event? Have an idea for a tournament, or an engaging social quest that hasn’t been done yet? Do you want to help another player explore their background, or their personal ambitions? Did a DM leave and you’d like to resolve their quest yourself?
Why not run an event yourself?
In our community players are able to run their own one-shots, about almost anything, with no pressure that they have to be on the DM team to do it. Time is a valuable resource in all of our lives, so even if you want to DM but can’t commit to joining the team you can still run things whenever you want too.
All you have to do is submit an Event DM form with a general outline of what you want to run and how difficult it will be. Then a DM or Admin will get back to you as quickly as they can, to discuss the outline briefly, possible rewards, or just approve it. The rules for actually running an Event are straightforward in order to give you as much freedom as possible to run the kind of adventure you would like to see.
Once an event finishes you may apply it's Milestone rewards to one of your characters plus an addtional +2 Milestones for running the event.
Event Name:
Discord User:
Description: The blurb you’ll give when posting the event.
DM Description: Give us a behind the scenes look at the event. Try breaking it down into short bullet points like this:
Is there a specific reason you want to run the event?
Is this an event to explore a player's backstory or their personal ambition?
How many players will you accept for it?
Is there a piece of Lore you want to explore as part of the event?
Difficulty: Apprentice, Journeymen
Combat: The number of combat encounters you expect the players to face.
Event DM’s are restricted to Apprentice or Journeymen difficulties, if you run three or more successful events you can gain approval to run Adventurer level events.
You cannot use your active characters in the event. If you have a retired character you can use them as an NPC, but avoid bringing them along to a fight or taking the spotlight from the party.
You can’t use any of the city's major NPC’s or a DM’s NPC’s without Admin permission. You can however introduce your own subordinate NPC if you want a faction's presence in your event.
Avoid killing nameless city civilians in your event, if a normal person in the city dies as part of your event make sure they have a name. If there is a civilian body count in your event it should be low, and carry weight.
Dungeons have few restrictions for their contents, but make sure to follow the current known lore about how they ‘work’ and don’t add anything extra to that.
Try to maintain a small focused scope. Generally what happens in a dungeon stays in that dungeon and cannot threaten the city.
Don’t travel to other ‘planes’, if you like the concept of an exotic or alien plane there is no reason something similar can’t exist as a Dungeon.
The Admin and DM team reserve the right to declare your event Non-Canon. We’ll only do this in order to maintain the lore of the setting, or if something truly outlandish happens on your watch. Players will get to keep their rewards, but the events have no impact on their characters or the wider lore.
