전 세계 가톨릭 교회 수장인 프란치스코 교황이 88세로 오늘(21일) 선종했습니다. 교황청은 현지시간으로 오늘 아침 교황이 아버지의 집으로 돌아갔다고 공식 발표했습니다. 건강이 나빠져서 한 달 넘게 입원했다가 최근 다시 활동에 나선 교황은 어제 부활절 미사에 참석해서 평화의 메시지를 전하기도 했는데, 그게 세상에 남긴 마지막 이야기가 됐습니다. 오늘 첫 소식, 윤창현 기자가 전하겠습니다.

Pope Francis, the head of the Catholic Church around the world, passed away today (the 21st) at the age of 88. The Vatican officially announced this morning, local time, that the Pope returned to his father's home. The Pope, who had been hospitalized for over a month due to poor health and recently returned to his activities, attended the Easter Mass yesterday and delivered a message of peace, but that was the last story he left the world.

El Papa Francisco, cabeza de la Iglesia Católica en todo el mundo, falleció hoy (día 21) a la edad de 88 años. El Vaticano anunció oficialmente esta mañana, hora local, que el Papa había regresado a la casa de su padre. El Papa, que estuvo hospitalizado durante más de un mes debido a problemas de salud, pero que recientemente regresó a sus actividades, asistió ayer a la Misa de Pascua y transmitió un mensaje de paz, que resultó ser el último mensaje que dejó al mundo.

The Easter message calling for peace and an end to the terrible war in Gaza and Ukraine became the Pope’s last will and testament. It appeals to the conflicting parties: call for a ceasefire, release the hostages, and help the hungry who yearn for a peaceful future.

El mensaje de Pascua, que llama a la paz y al fin de la terrible guerra en Gaza y Ucrania, se convirtió en el último testamento del Papa. Hace un llamamiento a las partes en conflicto: exijan un alto el fuego, liberen a los rehenes y ayuden a los hambrientos que anhelan un futuro de paz.
