Strike System

Student Contract for the School Year

Students in the 4th Door program must contribute to the success of the program. There are 6 expectations that students must focus on to continue their success. Not complying with 4 out of the 6 expectations will cause for immediate dismissal from the alternative education environment. Indicators for student success are listed here.

1.     Students must make progress toward their alternative education classes. Missing one week of progress will count as a strike.

2.     Students must be passing their mainstream classes. Each week you are not passing you will be given a strike so try to resolve the grade as quickly as possible. Remember that we are there to help you in this goal.

3.     Students must attend the classes they have signed up for. Unless you are under extreme stressors that you can communicate you will be asked to participate. Each unexcused class you miss will count as a strike.

4.     Limit distractions if you have work to complete. Remember that you are here to get closer to graduation. You will get a warning before a strike is given.

5.     School attendance is very important to the overall success of students. Unexcused absences will count toward strikes. If you have an appointment or valid reason for missing school students are asked to communicate these absences.

6.     Students are asked to follow the rules and adhere to the guidance of staff. Students should be aware that negative actions anywhere in the educational environment impact our 4th Door program in a negative way. Strikes will be communicated as they impact the program.

Please be aware that three strikes will call for a meeting to try to resolve the negative trend. Five strikes in any two of the expectations will lead to dismissal from the Alternative Education Program (AKA: Two BIG strikes).
