A Free AHS Behind the Scenes RevWar Zoom Event
Rebecca Rose and Cassandra Good
Wednesday, January 28th
7 to 8 pm, via Zoom
No cost but Registration is required
Contrary to long-standing myth, Virginia women participated in the American Revolution in a variety of ways. Historians Rebecca Rose and Cassandra Good will discuss two such ways: Women’s role in the Army and their political participation on the homefront. Rebecca and Cassandra will share what they learned from images, pension records, and other primary and secondary sources, and how they turned their research into entries for Virginia Humanities’ Encyclopedia Virginia.
Cassandra Good is a historian of early American gender, culture, and politics. She received her PhD in history from the University of Pennsylvania and serves as Associate Professor of History at Marymount University. Good is the author of: Founding Friendships: Friendships Between Men and Women in the Early American Republic and First Family: George Washington’s Heirs and the Making of America.
Rebecca Rose earned a master's in history from Virginia Commonwealth University and previously served as secretary of the Alexandria Historical Society.
This event launches the Alexandria Historical Society 2026 America250 programming. We will present new perspectives on this defining event in the nation’s history, especially in our local area.
