March 2023 OOC Dark Elf Meeting Log

Mariath says, "It's kind of freeform while I settle in and get my feet wet here."

Tabubu quietly asks, "So on the Lore, are you taking submissions?"

You say, "I'll just say bluntly we are probably all a bit bottled-up feeling after many years of having to share our guru and now, finding one all to ourselves, we are hungry." She stresses it again. "HUNGRY."

Telare says, "Om nom nom."

Tabubu quietly says, "I blurted out someone else's question even."

Nazarr says, "Preach it, Lylia."

Speaking huskily to Tabubu, Noira says, "I just happened to say it first."

Lavastene softly says, "It's been a while for one of those."

You say, "According to my records, 2019 was the last one."

Yardie says, "I wonder what this place was like in 2019."

Rayelle says, "Ebon Gate last year had the morphing list merchant. That was a throw back."

Mariath says, "If you have some writings you have done, I would love a link. If they are on the player WIKI or even Google."

Nazarr asks, "What about on the Faendryl Symposium's site?"

You say, "We have been keeping track of all our Symposium works in one place at https://sites.google.com/view/alabasterspire/home, broken out by year."

Yardie says, "Synchronized."

Mariath says, "You can send them to GS4-MARIATH@play.net."

Mariath says, "I will definitely use the Symposium site for research."

Naethun says, "I cant really speak for the Dhe'nar, but I know a couple of em have sites and info on the Wiki that is used to guide new initiates."

Mariath asks, "Shall we just get right into it?"

Noira huskily says, "Jump into the deep end."

Mariath says, "Noira And how."

Speaking to Tabubu, Yardie says, "I hope you get to showcase your work and talents."

Mariath asks, "Alisaire Question or... already answered?"

Alisaire says, "I actually had three questions, and it sounds like you've addressed my first one."

Alisaire says, "That first one being that there have been some excellent lore documents released over the last few years that drew off of players and their work."

Alisaire says, "These range from inspiring GMs to write documents, to accepting player-written documents wholecloth and releasing as official and attributed to the authors, to, very recently, working with players to brainstorm what Ta'Loenthra is like for its massive document."

Alisaire says, "I am glad to hear that this trend will continue and you are open to player submissions for consideration for official lore."

Alisaire says, "Somewhat related to that is my second question.."

Alisaire says, "Last year, we saw a few new documents - Finally!!! - related to Dhe'nar."

Mariath says, "It was huge."

Alisaire says, "Prior, there had been pretty much nothing for over 15 years for them, though the Faendryl, very thankfully, did have a few documents released. Now we've got a new Faendryl document, too."

Alisaire asks, "So, question #2: Do you anticipate continuing to flesh out both cultures or are you planning to focus primarily on one over the other?"

Mariath says, "I have been asked to put together a document on Dark Elven funeral rites/customs... I think there's a lot of player positing out there."

Alisaire says, "Ooh. I know several of us would likely be very keen to share our thoughts, as well as point to what's already documented in official lore."

Mariath says, "You might have noticed a lot of those racially defined have been released lately."

Lavastene softly says, "And then the humans started dying."

Mariath says, "Beyond that, I've mused about what other kinds of documents I might like to explore, pending approval from the higher ups."

Mariath says, "I'd like to explore the Faendryl timeline with a bit more detail."

Mariath says, "There's sort of a void in there."

You ask, "Pun intended?"

Mariath winks at you.

Alisaire adds, "And the Dhe'nar timeline, too?"

Alisaire asks, "Or just the Faendryl?"

Mariath says, "I probably could make a list of documents to keep me busy for several years."

Mariath asks, "Any specifically you yearn for?"

Noira huskily says, "Noooo, that was my question."

Noira huskily says, "Well, one of them."

Alisaire says, "I think that a counterpart to the Faendryl cuisine document that focuses on Dhe'nar cuisine would be a nice one to incorporate."

Mariath exclaims, "And, you're up!"

Alisaire asks, "Can I ask my third question?"

Alisaire asks, "Or end of the line?"

Noira huskily says, "I am ok with you asking the third."

Alisaire exclaims, "Thanks!"

Mariath asks, "Oh, that wasn't three?"

Noira huskily exclaims, "So long as it's not the one I'm going to ask!"

Alisaire says, "Third and last question, then..."

Alisaire says, "What can you tell us of Behizet? We already know that it's the Jewel of the Wastes, was teased as an OSA port on the southern end of Elanith, and is apparently tied in some strong way to at least one dark elven culture."

Mariath says, "You know as much as I know, however... knowing that, I would like to explore it more."

Mariath says, "Also pun intended."

You say, "I know from reading every scrap about it on Discord channels, and searching the word "Behizet" every few days, it's a coastal settlement that might be roughly equidistant between Sharath and New Ta'Faendryl."

Mariath says, "I have a list of conversations to have both with those who guide me and those whose other areas we touch."

You diffidently confess, "Not that I'm obsessed."

Mariath says, "And I was kind of surprised to see a recent map and how close Sharath is to the Southron Wastes, and how that escaped the attention of the Wavedancer tourists."

Alisaire says, "The wastes are pretty big.. It's not just the Bronx."

Speaking to Mariath, Talinvor adds, "Two cities. Eh'lah isn't even on the map for some reason."

Noira huskily asks, "My first question was already answered, but maybe you could expand on it: did you have particular areas of the lore that you wanted to focus on first, or would you like us to just innundate you with documents?"

Naethun says, "I recommend a piecemeal course, the lore is a lot to digest."

Mariath says, "Innundate by all means, I could change my mind about the order."

Noira huskily asks, "And then, do you have any plans for events with a focus on dark elves, either Faendryl or Dhe'nar?"

Mariath asks, "Yes, events are also up there on the list. I just don't know what kinds yet. Hit me with some ideas?"

Tabubu quietly says, "A clash in the middle."

Noira huskily exclaims, "A dance off!"

Mariath says, "You know... I have been told WHY this is not likely to be a good event, but... if I can admit to a sort of secret pleasure..."

Mariath says, "I have long wanted a debate about who was really First Born."

Lavastene softly says, "I thoroughly enjoyed the Yuvi Quirot (Tehir Wedding). And think that smaller events like that with a small story line, and some shops to help bring more to each culture would be fantastic."

You suggest, "We could do a yearly gathering of Dark Elves who share a particular culture, maybe call it a...hmm...convocation? I know, Symposium!"

(Lylia shakes her head vehemently.)

Tabubu quietly says, "We all know the answer to that."

You say, "Remind me when that is so I can not be there."

Mariath says, "But I was told my idea had faults."

Noira huskily says, "If Xorus said so..."

Talinvor says, "Best leave that claim to the dhe'nar. It's their entire creed, really."

Mariath says, "It might have to remain a pipe dream in my fantasy imagination."

Noira huskily says, "That was all for me."

You say, "There's the matter of what player characters believe, and there's the matter of lore as defined by GMs. I personally would like that to stay forever in the realm of what characters feel and believe, never to be decided by fiat from on high."

Mariath says, "Alright, I bet Lylia has a bunch."

You say, "OH I DO."

You say, "Give me a sec to put my thoughts together on them, though. If you'd like to take Yardie first, I would yield the floor to him."

You say, "Believe me, you would rather have me cut and paste than wait for me to type all this out."

Alisaire says, "This is the way."

Yardie surprisedly says, "Oh."

Mariath says, "I have been on the player side of having GMs take my roleplay and ideas and create something out of them..."

Nazarr says, "I'd like to hear everyone's headcanons, personally."

Mariath says, "And I have been on the GM side of creating something I loved and felt represented the topic well..."

Mariath says, "Only to find it has crushed a player's heart."

Telare says, "It's most useful for all of us if lore documents play it loose and allow for options on how to utilize it for your character, if at all."

Mariath says, "Unintentionally."

Alisaire says, "I'm definitely a fan of IC lore documents so we have a biased author who can then be dismissed by those whose RP is counter to what is expressed."

Mariath says, "There's canon and then there's storytelling."

You say, "I am sorry; still writing. Please take Yardie's question first."

Telare says, "It's a good way to do it."

Mariath says, "Finding a balance is definitely key."

Noira huskily says, "Open-ended. Give players a way to be like "well that's how X wrote it, and they were high on meth at the time".."

Xorus says, "That also takes some of the sharpness out of the inevitable inconsistencies the slip into documentation."

Yardie begins, "I have two questions. Obviously, as a Palestra, I love the Trials, I love the experience, I love the role and whatever roleplay opportunities I and the other Palestras can get in game, I'll take. But will there be some love and shine given to the sorcerers and the importance of what they do? I think the hype of us, which I love, tends to lose the sorcerers, which are the powerhouses of Faendryl culture."

Mariath says, "Well X writes or documents a lot of stuff."

Speaking to Yardie, Mariath asks, "Does Yardie want more demon documentation?"

Yardie asks, "And the second was going to be about what we as players can do to help you out, but that seemed answered so I guess I'll ask, will there be information on like, towns and stuff in NTF and all?"

Speaking to Mariath, Yardie says, "The character? Heck no. The player? Do it."

Mariath says, "Had to tease you about that."

Noira huskily exclaims, "Know thy enemy!"

Mariath says, "I want to get the okay to go into more detail about New Ta'Faendryl and how we got there from exile."

Mariath says, "I am fascinated with Sharath."

Telare says, "I think that would be fascinating."

Xorus says, "The underground periods are pretty undefined in general."

Speaking teasingly to you, Yardie states, "Lylia is still typing..."

You raise your voice in merry laughter.

You say, "Actually, I'm just about ready, if you've finished your questions."

You exclaim, "But I can always ramble more if not!"

Mariath says, "And that's because, quite frankly, it was a big surprise to be offered this opportunity."

Mariath says, "And it's not a small one either."

Speaking to Mariath, Yardie says, "No, I'm good for now, though may have something else later or in Email form."

Speaking to Mariath, Yardie says, "Thank you kindly."

Mariath says, "And... I am still familiarizing myself with, well, everything."

Mariath says, "So I will probably ask some of you to help fill me in."

Speaking nervously to Mariath, Yardie mutters, "I'll accept more demon types though."

Xorus says, "There is a lot, and it's not entirely consistent."

Nazarr says, "It's a thirty-plus-year-old game. There's a lot to familiarize yourself with."

Mariath says, "I love putting consistency to things, so, that might be part of goal."

You say, "Okay, after some waiting, here's question one: Can we have some organized brainstorming sessions like there were for the creation of the Ta'Loenthra document that creates a shared imagining of the places that are most important to us, New Ta'Faendryl and Sharath? I never want to actually go there on my PC, but I would love to have common consensus about what these cities are like."

Telare says, "That was a blast to collaborate on."

Alisaire says, "Very much so."

Meliyara adds, "And Eh'lah!"

Mariath says, "I'm still waiting to go to the Sea of Fire after 23 years."

You exclaim, "And Behizet!"

Alisaire says, "You can go there now."

Lavastene softly exclaims, "Come with!"

Lavastene softly says, "I'm there all the time."

Xorus says, "I still have to go through the Loenthra document, but the parts I did see show how much the OOC meeting influenced it."

Mariath says, "That much of it."

Mariath says, "I do like the idea of brainstorming sessions."

Mariath says, "True."

Mariath says, "And I saw enough of the Southron Wastes off the Wavedancer, no need to examine every acre."

You say, "The Ta'Loenthra ones were great and generated a beautiful vision of the city even though PCs will never go there in reality, and I think we would all benefit from a collaborative vision of these places."

You ask, "Question Two: We are going to have lore contributions from player characters, which is great! Will we be rigorous in defining what's IC and what's OOC, and especially what's written from an IC perspective with all its inherent potential bias and opinion versus what's written as pure, dispassionate fact, e.g., something like a D&D Handbook?"

Mariath says, "I'm still a bit new to the process, and as I said, as a player I definitely enjoyed seeing my ideas worked out into the game."

Mariath says, "I definitely have an affinity for collaboration."

Mariath says, "I know that's not a complete answer... I do need to propose ideas and get them approved."

You say, "It's really important to me that we delineate what's potentially from an "unreliable narrator" IC historian -- which is also great, by the way! -- and what comes from on high and represents knowledge that both we as players and our characters would know."

You say, "Definitely understand that! And that kind of leads to my third question."

Mariath says, "The content might not always be up to me."

You ask, "Which also follows in Alisaire's tradition. Third question: How much interaction will you be having with other GMs on Dark Elven-related things? Is there anything we, as players, can do to help?"

Mariath says, "I know one concern is the use of player material and "author's rights" especially if that player is no longer around."

Mariath says, "Icemule is a frozen tundra."

Mariath says, "It's much warmer here."

You say, "Hmm, that's understandable, and it's a wrinkle I hadn't thought about. Silvean's player left a lot of essays, and I know I have consulted them from time to time."

Noira huskily says, "I don't understand what you mean by Icemule being a frozen tundra."

Mariath says, "I'm willing to advocate."

Xorus says, "Tropical paradise compared to the Hinterwilds."

Noira huskily says, "Ah."

Speaking quietly to Noira, Ferghal says, "It certainly ain't a blistering desert."

Speaking to Ferghal, Yardie says, "Kraken's...Fall."

Mariath says, "There's a conflicting meeting schedule for right now, if anyone wishes to duck out."

You say, "Ohhh, the Icemule Trace town hall thing."

You say, "This is something I've cared about for as long as I've played the game. I'm sticking. And I am done with questions."

Missoni says, "I sent my spy."

Naethun says, "Let the halflings plot."

Lavastene softly says, "Solhaven is nicer than Icemule Trace anyhow."

Speaking to you, Mariath asks, "Anything else?"

Mariath says, "I do wish I had more concrete items to tell you, but I really wanted to keep an open mind and see what you all wanted first."

Alisaire whispers aloud, "Everything."

You echo, "All the things."

Mariath asks, "And Anything?"

Talinvor says, "All at once."

Mariath says, "Oh, you can just go out or any direction to get home."

Speaking to Talinvor, Meliyara exclaims, "Everything, everywhere, all at once?!"

Speaking to Mariath, Yardie says, "Whatever you can cook up and share, we'll eat. I like to think we're an eager sort."

Lavastene softly asks, "Sidebar... was that movie actually any good?"

Nazarr says, "I was just thinking the same thing."

You say, "I actually loved it a whole lot."

Speaking to Lavastene, Meliyara says, "It was a strange one. I enjoyed it, but it was quite odd."

Lavastene softly says, "Should have watched it on my 9 hour flight Monday."

Noira huskily says, "Don't get too close, you might catch a few hitchhikers."

Tabubu quietly says, "Don't stand to close to him."

You say, "Sorry, I don't want to derail things; I am done with questions and see there are still some names on the board. I don't want to take up their time."

Lavastene softly says, "I'll be brief."

Lavastene softly says, "Palestra trials. Will they be on again this year or next? My warrior alt would like to know."

Noira huskily says, "Ah, there goes one of mine."

Lavastene softly says, "I really just need to know if I should take him off full ascension."

Mariath says, "I have not made a schedule, and I think between getting settled in and up to speed on all things Dark Elven, maybe not this year..."

Lavastene softly says, "I'm ok with that."

Telare says, "Honesty is great."

Lavastene softly says, "Thank you."

Lavastene softly says, "That was all I had."

You say, "They have typically been once every few years, so that's pretty realistic."

Yardie says, "Yeah."

Mariath says, "And with the Palestra Mistress still around to advise and guide me, it won't stop."

Mariath says, "Other Meli."

Yardie says, "Should be more around to provide sponsorship."

Meliyara says, "At the risk of being a bit repetitive, what can we expect in terms of your vision for the Dhe'nar specifically? Will we start seeing more Dhe'nar NPCs? Merchants? Events, like the Palestra trials for the Faendryl? Lore? While it was very exciting to see a new DE document released this week, it was admittedly disappointing not to have it touch upon non-Faendryl cuisine at all."

Alisaire says, "Poorr Melikor and Meliyara, always having to deal with all of us lazy typists."

Speaking to Alisaire, Meliyara says, "At least Melivn isn't also here."

Noira huskily says, "Attack of the Meli's."

Meliyara says, "We can be our own invasion force if we want."

Mariath says, "There's so much known player-based Dhe'nar documentation, and though I know some of it, there's so much more to read."

Mariath says, "Identifying "holes" to fill in probably needs some guidance from players."

Meliyara asks, "So the more that players can get you in terms of areas of interest, and possibly also ideas for those, the more likely we are to see it?"

Mariath says, "Again, at the risk of sounding like a broken record, I really tried not to set too much in concrete, until I got feedback tonight, and even then, that can change."

Mariath says, "I like to have some flexibility, and be able to respond to whatever is required or inspired. I would say... give me another month or so to solidify a list."

Meliyara asks, "Should we anticipate a follow-up OOC meeting around that time?"

Mariath asks, "How often would you like one? Every quarter?"

Noira huskily says, "More communication is good."

Thrassus exclaims, "That would be great!"

Nazarr says, "I'd love it."

You exclaim, "Yes!"

Mariath asks, "As we as a couple days out from the start of Q2, then the start of Q3/July?"

Noira huskily says, "At least... to start. Given that this is a new thing for everyone."

You add, "I would also ask that we devote at least one of those meetings, or possibly a Discord thread on the forums, to brainstorming some ideas about what our homelands are like. We don't get to visit them, but we should know what they look like."

Speaking to Mariath, Talinvor says, "A couple questions. First, will you be coordinating with Netz regarding the Khanshael? They are incredibly invested and tied into Dhe'nar lore and culture that it would not make sense to silo them."

Mariath says, "I can do that, sure. He and I have already been talking about other stuff."

Talinvor asks, "Second - will there be opportunities for citizenship in the East for dark elves, perhaps with new ports opening?"

Mariath says, "Ah yes, I was told to anticipate this question."

Talinvor asks, "So is that a yes, there will be. Or Yes, I was anticipating?"

Talinvor says, "Or yes, to both."

Yardie says, "I'm curious as to the reactions if that does happen."

Mariath says, "That's a, it's up to the town gurus I believe, question... but, I can still be a very engaged advocate."

Talinvor says, "It's a huge bit of contention currently, and would make huge waves of appreciation to overcome that hurdle as it stands."

Noira huskily says, "We just got access to the towns inns. Just sayin."

Tabubu quietly says, "Sounds promising at least."

Mariath says, "I could see both sides. Why would I want citizenship in a town that treated my kind so poorly for eons..."

Mariath says, "And then..."

Mariath says, "Heck yes, I want to be a citizen so I can stick my snooty nose up in the air and strut around."

You note, "Well, ultimately some of our characters plan on taking over what they perceive as the rightful position as the rulers of all lands, including Elven ones, so I can see why some might want a house over yonder."

Meliyara says, "Well, also the mechanical side of it, too. Given that we're also told that citizenship in many ways should be viewed as more of a 'residential' type thing."

You say, "This is an OOC meeting, I can say that stuff here! I don't believe Lylia's plans, but I know she's got 'em."

Yardie says, "It has a ways to go, and I do hope it's done through RP."

Mariath says, "I think the OSA ports might be more likely before, say, Ta'Illistim. But I could be surprised."

You chant, "Behizet, Behizet, Behizet..."

Noira huskily says, "I mean, we could have Talinvor marry the Mirror and then have everything open for dark elves."

Talinvor says, "I already take credit for opening the inns."

Desorceri says, "We need to get an annex in each elven town with diplomatic immunity."

Noira huskily asks, "You'd take one for the team, right?"

Talinvor says, "Anyway, last one."

Nazarr says, "Just have Lylia usurp the Mirror. She'll have more fun."

You say, "I like the cut of your jib, Nazarr."

Noira huskily says, "I vote Xorus and Lylia for next rulers of the EN."

Xorus says, "Working on it."

Veramilion says, "Tal's chances with Sayilla seem to be shot."

(Lylia makes a little "aw, shucks" gesture with her hand.)

You exclaim, "Oh, you!"

Nazarr says, "Naz is a very nice farmboy. I am a freelance editor. I am NOT nice."

Noira huskily exclaims, "Back to me!"

Talinvor says, "Adding onto Yardie's question regarding expansion of sorcery lore. It is feasible to segregate the sorcerous lore into demonology - which is strongly the Faendryl purview. And necromancy - which I feel would be a strong Dhe'nar aspect - given our myths of Despana, and how we don't waste a perfectly good body."

Noira huskily says, "Oh."

Speaking to Nazarr, you say, "That explains why, when I post your documents on the Enclave website, they are already flawless."

Noira huskily says, "Hey, good segue into my second thing."

Noira huskily asks, "1. Adding to the question about Palestra (since I'm sure you're jotting this down or referring to it somehow), could you make sure that there will be a path to promotions for people like myself who were too untrained at the time of offering to make Blade, please?"

Mariath says, "Oh that's a big question..."

Yardie says, "From what I saw, there were a few that did a second run for promotion last year. And they got it, I believe."

Mariath says, "The latter part yes, I see according to notes made, one promotion already took place."

Noira huskily says, "Fantastic."

Noira huskily says, "2. Will you be bringing in a rune teacher any time soon to teach the unusual demon runes? I realize that it's not really dark elven-centric, but it's definitely in the wheelhouse."

Mariath says, "The first part... I might need a Xorus translation."

Mariath says, "Yes, I have done the runeteaching at the last few EGs."

Mariath says, "Now that I outed my merchant."

Noira huskily says, "That was it for me."

Mariath says, "I also gave my cheat sheet on how to do them to three other GMs, since I had to travel at the end of EG, in case there were issues, so maybe there will be others too."

You say, "I think Tivvy also may have done a rune teaching recently; I didn't get a chance to get in on it, but I was happy it was taking place and that more GMs are active in it."

Mariath says, "She was one of them."

Alisaire says, "Tivvy is pretty great."

Mariath says, "She is."

You say, "She's the bomb diggity."

Yardie says, "Bomb dot com."

Noira huskily says, "Typing..."

Veramilion says, "Bombas socks....com."

Veramilion asks, "Is that anything?"

Mariath says, "As for the first part of your question, Noira, that's a bit over my knowledge of even where to start with that."

Lavastene softly asks, "It's a C for effort?"

Lavastene softly says, "I was being generous."

Mariath says, "I only recently started summoning them myself, because I was tired of getting arrested."

Lavastene softly says, "I'm honestly scared to try on my sorcerer alt."

Mariath says, "So there's a large vacant period in there."

Noira huskily says, "You could study illusions on wednesday nights."

Mariath asks, "I should, are you mentoring?"

Noira huskily exclaims, "Not me, but I know a gal!"

Mariath says, "Lylia does a flawless job walking around with hers."

You shake your head.

Mariath says, "I just find myself doing the walk of shame across town."

You say, "Uh, I've actually been arrested in most major towns with them."

You say, "I just don't talk about it. Never happened. You saw nothing."

Alisaire says, "I like Missoni's record with demons."

Mariath says, "Nothing special."

Alisaire says, "Death and destruction in every town she visits thanks to hers."

Mariath says, "Oh, nice to learn I am not alone."

Missoni says, "Somehow other people get arrested."

Noira huskily says, "She's still got weapons on her even without any possessions."

Veramilion says, "Just a quick suggetion on lore."

Mariath says, "Sure thing."

Veramilion says, "I would like to see some lore on Dark Elves from neither of the Big Two."

Nazarr says, "I have to go to two other meetings. My apologies. Mariath, it was a pleasure to meet you."

Mariath says, "Yes, that is also on my list of making sure not all DEs are one or the other."

Veramilion says, "Nice."

Veramilion says, "That's all from me."

Mariath asks, "Lylia?"

You exclaim, "Yes!"

You ask, "With the development of big world-changing storylines, some involving Faendryl like the one with the Betrayer out east, can we expect to see some Faendryl and/or Dhe'nar statements on events? Characters representing our cultures or governments? Letters expressing official positions of heads of state?"

Noira huskily exclaims, "Letters from Home!"

You say, "I know that's probably going to be another "we'll need to work with other GMs on that" answer, but I did want to ask because it's something we deeply, deeply crave."

You say, "YESSS."

Missoni says, "Ooh that'd be wonderful."

Mariath says, "If they are town-based, right."

Talinvor says, "Contesting for Rhoska-Tor artifacts.."

Yardie says, "Just word on stuff. Was curious to hear from the Patriarch last year with the Manticore storyline."

Mariath says, "I'm putting dibs on the Book of Tormtor."

You say, "I have always enjoyed the possibility of exploration-based story arcs that pit us against something other than each other."

Yardie says, "Books."

You say, "I hope we never, ever find actual artifacts like that."

You bluntly say, "Nothing we ever write will match up with our imaginations of what such things would be, and I never want to see them in-game. Just tossing that out there."

Mariath says, "I want a page to wave around."

You say, "But as for story involvement, I was really hoping that the story arc with the Betrayer -- whose actual name escapes me right now -- is going to plug into world storylines."

Mariath says, "Just one page..."

You say, "You're a GM, you can have that! Just don't show it to me because I want to suspend my disbelief."

Missoni says, "Enomna."

Alisaire says, "Enomna."

You exclaim, "Geeez, thank you!"

Speaking to Missoni, Yardie says, "Those Hunters were amazing."

Noira huskily says, "Manah manah... doo dooooo do do do doot."

Mariath asks, "What is this Enomna?"

You say, "They were, and so was Enomna, and it was powerful to finally have --"

Mariath scratches her head.

Missoni exclaims, "Loved seeing them!"

Speaking to Mariath, Yardie says, "The Betrayer."

Alisaire says, "She's the Faendryl involved recently in the Nations of the Brink questline."

Missoni says, "They were the Faendryl in NotB."

Xorus says, "Impersonated the Patriarch's dead mother and tried to kidnap his son."

Mariath says, "Hard as it might seem to believe, we all don't know what all of us are doing at any one time."

Thrassus says, "They weren't really part of the NotB to be honest."

Alisaire says, "They're listed as part of it."

Missoni says, "I think they were."

Noira huskily says, "A precursor."

Missoni exclaims, "I have theories!"

Noira huskily says, "I'm sure they'll circle back around to it."

Mariath says, "Now I will need to go read up."

Speaking to Missoni, Yardie asks, "Makes you wonder what's happening in New Ta'Faendryl at the moment, yea?"

Alisaire says, "But she did commit a pretty serious crime against the Patriarch himself."

Noira huskily says, "Somehow."

Mariath says, "I already have agreed to work with Kenstrom on something... we have no idea, just the desire to do so. So help me..."

Missoni says, "We're all gonne die."

Thrassus says, "Oh boy."

Noira huskily says, "BUY DEEDS (tm)"

Speaking to Missoni, Meliyara says, "Not all of us, only the ones who are awake when Kenny's around."

You say, "Yes, it was a serious crime against the Patriarch. And we actually didn't even know the Patriarch's mother was still alive until we heard she'd died a year ago. AND we didn't know he had a son. Don't know how old the son is. Don't know anything yet."

Mariath says, "It might or might not include some of the Lornon Pantheon."

Xorus says, "The Armata is welcome to build a fortress in the Lysierian Hills."

Speaking to Mariath, Yardie says, "Oh dear."

You say, "I definitely get not knowing all storylines at all times, though. I am having trouble keeping up with the pace and scope of the world stuff right now."

Speaking to Mariath, Yardie says, "That's going to be fun....and scary."

Speaking to you, Mariath says, "There is A LOT going on right now, especially with a bunch of new gurus."

Noira huskily says, "I hope you guys are having stand up meetings "hey I'm planning on making copies of players and stealing their deeds" .."

Mariath says, "I definitely like the idea of crossovers, links, hooks, etc. working with other GMs."

Mariath says, "I actually have already done that a few times with some older events, when I've had to do releases."

Desorceri exclaims, "Two-fer!"

Desorceri says, "Is there more to say on the Basilican Sorcerers and their regulation and release of sorcery spells? I'd love to know the scope and scale of the "secret menu" spells."

Desorceri asks, "Annnnd What's the glowing valence stone used for the Patriarch's home going to be called?"

Missoni says, "Ooh yes the valence stone."

You exclaim, "I've been wondering about that valence stone too!"

Mariath asks, "Like what was in the Basilica?"

Missoni says, "It's my favorite thing."

Noira huskily says, "The Lislaoyf'Tyr."

Mariath says, "More things to look up."

(Noira squints at her fingers.)

Mariath says, "Huh."

Noira huskily mutters, "Not a real tyr, just made it up by banging on the keyboard."

Yardie asks, "Was Xociral part of that group?"

Speaking to Yardie, Missoni asks, "The hunters?"

You say, "Good ol' Xociral."

You say, "He was not one of the hunters."

Missoni says, "He came in at the end when it was time to transport Enomna."

Mariath says, "I am so totally lost right now..."

Talinvor says, "Me too."

Xorus says, "Xociral tried to borrow the Patriarchal authority to threaten Xorus. This is a grave offense and he should have been punished severely."

Talinvor asks, "Sounds like it's more storyline than DE specific?"

Missoni says, "He was awfully cranky."

Speaking to Xorus, Yardie says, "He asked about Yardie needing a surname."

You say, "In this case, storyline overlaps with DE-specific."

Speaking to Mariath, Desorceri asks, "About what?"

You say, "I don't remember the last time we had a story arc that involved anything Faendryl, Dhe'nar, or Independent."

Talinvor says, "Dhe'nar need more storyline specific stuff to ask questions on."

Mariath muses, "Maybe it was just a tall tale... a dream... a hallucination?

You say, "So seeing Enomna the Betrayer and the hunting party was something very special."

Desorceri says, "Very exciting times."

Alisaire says, "I think Aralyte was the last one before then."

Missoni says, "I was so happy to see Faendryl NPCs i legit didn't know what to do with myself."

Xorus says, "He's just an NPC that was at the last Palestra trial. Showed up briefly during the Enomna thing."

Missoni says, "I was like *don't be an idiot* the whole time."

You say, "And we had to drop Aralyte ages ago because she was Faendryl, and therefore she was off-limits."

You sigh wistfully.

Speaking to Missoni, you say, "Saaaaame."

You say, "I had to remind myself not to fan-girl too much."

You say, "Said to myself, "Self, this is not proper Lylia behavior."."

Mariath says, "Oh, I think there is a list of Faendryl NPCs. I hope they are defined."

Alisaire says, "There are a lot on the wiki."

Talinvor asks, "Is there a list of dhe'nar ones? Or non-affiliated?"

Alisaire says, "The last Dhe'nar NPC I recall was I think a sorcerer involved with a Ta'Vaalor questline back when the king was going mad.. so about 15 years ago."

You say, "If you want there to be such a list, you may need to DIY. I know we've done some of that."

Alisaire says, "Before him.. I think there was a merchant about 5 or 7 years before that."

Alisaire says, "That's about it."

Speaking to Talinvor, Yardie says, "There are a few that are non-affiliated or rather Survivors of Caligos that appeared in Kraken's Fall."

Speaking to Talinvor, Mariath says, "I do not know... still trying to find all the Dark Elven pages on the WIKI, when I find the WIKI search option abyssmal..."

Missoni says, "And Rhythus who is the one I always think of."

You add, "And the very welcome addition of some unique cultural garments during the most recent Rumor Woods, including Dhe'nar-specific mounts. I was happy to see that."

Talinvor says, "I think we all can agree that we want to continue that momentum."

You exclaim, "We definitely do!"

Alisaire says, "Last year's Rumor Woods items and lore were a true treat."

Mariath takes out a squeaky and smelly marker and adds a note to her whiteboard.

>read white

In the Common language, it reads:

Wish List Items, Topics for Consideration, Facts:

1.) Xorus knows EVERYTHING

2.). More Lore

3.). Pie is good, cake is better

4.) Black, grey, and blood red are not the only colors

5.). Glowing stone

Noira huskily asks, "Glowing stone?"

Missoni says, "Valence stone."

Speaking to Noira, you say, "The stone that makes up the Patriarchal Palace at the heart of New Ta'Faendryl, not that I've done a lot of research on this lately in preparation for this meeting or anything..."

Mariath asks, "If that's the glowing blue stone I saw earlier today? A column?"

You say, "I don't think it exists in the game. It's just been written about."

Alisaire says, "I'm really curious about how you phrased your answer to Meliyara's question, where you said that because there's so much established player-written Dhe'nar lore already, you'd rather focus on the holes that those same lore documents leave behind."

Alisaire asks, "Are you considering adopting more of the previously written lore about Dhe'nar by players as official, beyond the ones that Valyrka released last year?"

Mariath asks, "I was told some of the Dhe'nar play documentation was codified into official, but we're talking a decade or so ago?"

Alisaire says, "About fifteen years ago, some got codified."

Mariath says, "Player."

Alisaire says, "Last year, some more documents were codified."

Alisaire says, "The ones codified last year were ones that GM Valyrka released, about Eh'lah and the creatures near Eh'lah and Sharath."

Meliyara says, "But there's a lot of Dhe'nar player lore that hasn't been. Still the vast majority of it, I'd say."

Alisaire says, "Both were drawn from player written lore, which was credited in the official versions."

Mariath says, "My answer meant I would mostly likely to fill in gaps."

Alisaire says, "I'm not sure I understand. It's past my bedtime so you might have to re-explain it a different way for me."

Alisaire asks, "Which gaps are you referring to? The ones only in official lore?"

Mariath says, "I'm still reading through everything, it's a bit like studying for a test."

Naethun asks, "Is it your hope to adopt the majority of the player written lore as official lore pending the authors approval, and upthechain approval?"

Mariath asks, "I'm not entirely clear on what is missing, but, if it seems maybe that stuff sort of jumps around?"

Alisaire asks, "Would it be helpful if I sent you what was not yet established as official?"

Naethun says, "The current official lore on Dhe'nar is very very vague."

Mariath says, "Maybe there is a Part A and then a Part C, but where is B."

Alisaire says, "I can certainly do that."

Mariath says, "I don't know what is missing, but I would bet it's incomplete."

Mariath says, "Same with the Faendryl, but I see much bigger gaps there."

Alisaire says, "I know that when Valyrka released the lore documents last year for the Dhe'nar, she did do so in a way that I felt did the original documents justice, and also was respectful toward their many authors, some of whom no longer play."

Xorus says, "I'm always having to check myself, trying to keep straight in my head which parts have been canonized."

Alisaire says, "And also noting where she drew her inspiration from, with an archived website."

Alisaire says, "I'm glad to hear that you're willing to reivist them and take a closer look at the ones that were not adopted."

Talinvor says, "I think a good start would be to draw inspiration from what's already there, and then go back to fill in the blanks."

Talinvor says, "Otherwise the dhe'nar remain one giant blank slate for the most part."

Alisaire says, "I wish we had the official lore that Faendyrl have."

Mariath says, "It doesn't make sense to discredit or disavow what has become rooted in the game."

Alisaire says, "Not that the Faendryl shouldn't get more, mind you. As well as non-affiliated dark elves."

Tabubu quietly says, "Would help solve a lot of problems."

Alisaire says, "But the lore gaps in the Dhe'nar side of things are so much more massive, it does make things challenging."

Mariath says, "It does make sense to expand and expound upon it."

You say, "Honestly, both cultures do, and we still have more than non-affiliated Dark Elves, but that kind of makes sense; I would hate to see a "third way" grafted on and would rather see their origins left more open-ended for players to explore."

Alisaire asks, "Maybe "of Behizet"?"

You say, "Bluntly, the Faendryl early lore is borked. There are some documents that affect all of the world's history that don't make sense and can't be reconciled."

Yardie says, "Lots of blanks."

Mariath says, "I personally wonder why the heck would Faendryls live amid ruins, in caves, for several generations."

You say, "So if I get a little insistent on fixing that, it's because the whole thing just needs WORK in ways that affect all of us, not only Faendryl history. This is stuff that happened long before the Faendryl were even called 'Dark Elves' and were still large and in charge in the East."

You say, "That's something that only some significant retconning can manage, though, and that's always terrifying."

Thrassus says, "I would assume because they were driven into exile with very little to establish themselves with quickly."

Speaking to Mariath, Talinvor adds, "As it is already done for the Faendryl."

You say, "People have lived in what we would consider wastelands for a while, and the early Faendryl were undoubtedly hardcore survivors; I imagine quite a few had already died on the trip from OTF to Rhoska-Tor."

Noira huskily says, "It was great talking with everyone and hearing the suggestions and questions."

Talinvor says, "I speak for myself here, when I say that I'd like the culture to be more approachable, and not so strictly affiliated with the Obsidian Tower. We shouldn't remain gatekeepers, but we can still be given credit for things."

Mariath says, "A lot to agree and disagree on, but hopefully together we can fill it out."

You say, "Fortunately, it's not a competition and we have a guru devoted to our collective race and disparate cultures."

You smile.

Mariath says, "Thank you all for coming up here tonight."

Naethun says, "Thanks for having us."

Naethun says, "I look forward to the next one."

Missoni exclaims, "Thanks so much!"

Meliyara exclaims, "Thank you for the meeting!"

Mariath says, "And bringing lots of helpful suggestions and a commitment to collaboration."

Desorceri exclaims, "Thank you!"

Alisaire says, "I am definitely looking forward to the next meeting."

You say, "Thank you so much! I look forward to future meetings and will write until my fingers bleed."

Naethun says, "Well you sure have your homework."
