2019 OOC Dark Elf Meeting Log

Valyrka suddenly fades into sight beside you.

Valyrka says, "Hi hi."

Valyrka says, "Ok so we will do this in three parts."

Valyrka says, "Some of what has been done in recent past."

Valyrka says, "What I would like to see and then what you would like to see."

Valyrka says, "In the past few years we have had new documentation, specifically about the Palestra."

Valyrka says, "There was a Faendryl cultural event."

Valyrka says, "And two rounds of Palestra trials where you could glimpse a bit of NTF."

Valyrka says, "An MHO held a second version of the original symposium."

Valyrka says, "It seems like all events have been well received, gm or MHO."

Valyrka says, "As far as future plans. I am looking at documentation."

Valyrka says, "Seeing where we have huge gaps."

Valyrka says, "Oh I should mention the divination documentation that was published and the new items for actually doing them."

Valyrka says, "I should add I love player run events."

Valyrka says, "And you can always send me a note letting me know there is one, in case I miss it."

Valyrka says, "I canot always promise to be around, but I usually contact the mho/che gms and see if I can augment."

Valyrka says, "Like loaning the artwork for the recent symposium."

Valyrka says, "Which hopefully will be finding a permenant home this year."

Speaking to Valyrka, Ysharra says, "We certainly appreciated you coming to Xorus' lecture."

Valyrka says, "I always enjoy his writings."

Valyrka says, "I wish I could have come to more."

Valyrka says, "The time of year is hit or miss for me depending on what is going on."

Valyrka says, "'but please, feel free to drop me notes saying a cool DE event is going on."

Valyrka says, "So I am looking into documentation and where there are gaps."

Valyrka says, "Adding a small art gallery with the embassy with the artwork is still on my list."

Valyrka just opened the coloring book.

Valyrka says, "While I have a plan for looking at new things for the future."

Valyrka says, "What kinds of things do you envision for the dark elves."

Berkana says, "Better food. My ancestors might have eaten bugs, snakes, and lizards... not I."

Valyrka says, "I recently did more food with De messaging."

Valyrka says, "Everything at the symposium had special messaging."

Ysharra says, "Well, since the Vaalor are taking over management of the Hidden Settlement here in the West..."

Speaking to Valyrka, Ysharra says, "Perhaps the Faendryl could consider a similar installment."

Alisaire says, "I heard the Faendryl were taking over management of the Landing. Or have."

Valyrka says, "The book is open."

Nehor says, "Realistically or...idealistically? Realistically, I'd like to see some more roleplay storylines involving the Faendryl and politics in that regard."

You mildly say, "I resemble that remark."

Valyrka says, "Oh I also forgot the relic storyline which began in OTF."

Valyrka says, "With the Faendryl."

Valyrka says, "It was in every town in the lands."

Valyrka says, "It began in OTF with the discovery of a cave hidden by magic and when the magic was broken the bodies of some faendryl were found."

Valyrka says, "With a relic."

Valyrka says, "And we chased relics all over the lands."

Nazarr says, "First I've heard of it."

Mersenne asks, "Was that this year?"

Valyrka says, "No it was right before the palestra trials."

Valyrka says, "Miss Maetriks."

Speaking to Valyrka, Maetriks says, "Yes, so I was wondering if there has been any progress made on the possibility of Faendryl sorcerers being recognized by the Basilica, similar to how the Palestra have been."

Valyrka says, "Not at this time, but I would like to see more solid documentation on some of the groups within the Basilica first."

Ysharra says, "The Palestra are great, and the trials were a lot of fun. But it's a large culture and a decent percentage of the player characters at this point."

Valyrka says, "It is not totally off the table, but does need more documentation before I can pitch the idea."

Valyrka says, "I always look at documentation sent, but there is no guarantees what can be used."

You say, "There are some wonderful nuances to explore with all five of the Pentact arms, and within some larger parts of the Pentact itself like the Clerisy. Ohhh, and Harrowers."

Valyrka says, "The harrowers are a subject I would love to dig into more."

Valyrka says, "So a better answer is, there are no direct plans on the table at this time, and I have no approvals, but am looking into more documentation."

Noira huskily asks, "If we have ideas fleshed out, or even an outline, should we submit them to you at gs4-valyrka@play.net?"

Valyrka says, "You can."

Valyrka says, "For those in the room who are new to the Faendryl culture."

Valyrka says, "This would be a good read."

Valyrka says, "Https://gswiki.play.net/The_Theory_of_Governance_and_Social_Order."

Valyrka says, "'the general page for faendryl has a lot of other documents."

Valyrka says, "Https://gswiki.play.net/Faendryl."

Gavrien says, "Almost like it was a Faendryl document or something."

Talinvor says, "There ARE other dark elves, you know."

Speaking in Dark Elven, Aanalar softly says, "None worth mentioning."

Valyrka says, "Https://gswiki.play.net/Dhe%27nar."

Valyrka says, "Lylia is up."

Speaking in Dark Elven, Nadier says, "It is fairly intimidating as a new dark elf."

Lylia says, "I have a TON of questions. Bear with me."

Lylia says, "I actually was going to ask about that. I would love to see some greater fleshing out of the different Dark Elven cultures. We've talked about Faendryl a good deal, but not as much about the Dhe'nar; showcasing the ways in which they're different culturally, not just historically, would be wonderful."

Lylia says, "I also wanted to know if there would be any chance of a Faendryl embassy here in the Landing. I hear that the town has recently become a bit more Faendryl-friendly, after all, and embassies and outposts are quite the fashion these days..."

Lylia says, "But I realize that might be more of a question for Kenstrom instead. Still! If you could address that, I'd be thrilled."

Valyrka says, "There is no plans for an embassy at this time."

Lylia continues, "Any glimpses of New Ta'Faendryl or the Southron Wastes would be amazing."

Lylia says, "Aw, pity."

Lylia says, "I guarantee the mayor would approve such plans."

Valyrka says, "Landing is kinda the melting pot of the lands."

Speaking in Dark Elven to you, Nadier says, "Do you have a private Home? Perhaps you could star a Salon of sorts. Where."

You say, "It is, which is one reason why I'd like to see a Faendryl presence here. We have Vaaloran and Imperial official presence."

Valyrka says, "Going back to other DE cultures."

Valyrka says, "'the Dhe'nar are unique."

Valyrka says, "They are not "social" like other cultures."

(Alisaire air quotes.)

Alisaire says, "Unique."

Talinvor leans on Alisaire, giving her a companionable grin.

Valyrka says, "I wouldn't expect to see them all huggy with other races at a ball."

Valyrka says, "As I said, the culture in general."

Lylia says, "I wouldn't either, and I think that's indeed one of the distinguishing characteristics of Faendryl and Dhe'nar cultures. Having some documentation that supports distinct cultural narratives helps reinforce that in creative ways."

Lylia says, "I love documentation that gives people a little framework on which to build. The social governance doc is great for that."

Valyrka says, "I have read and reread the official documentation."

Valyrka says, "And while there are groups who use unofficial documentation as canon, I tend to look at the official first as I need to make sure documentation works off of that first."

Lylia says, "And finally, not so much a question, but in light of the discussion of Harrowers, I am hoping that we might hear more about valences beyond the current three known ones from which demons can be summoned. That's more about lore than about mechanics, of course - I don't expect to summon new demons - but it's something that would really add to a Faendryl mystique."

Valyrka says, "But there are many ways of rping."

Lylia adds, "And give us more stuff to use in fancy alterations."

Jaleico says, "Lots of places that are likely in those Faendryl encyclopedias and such."

Lylia says, "Yes, the Enchiridion Valentia is huge. The pocket version we all tote around only has a little slice of it all."

Alisaire says, "Pocket guides are quite useful."

Valyrka says, "Another good topic for more documentation."

Speaking to Valyrka, Lylia says, "I'm really truly done with questions and suggestions now."

Valyrka says, "I am adding all these to lists of possible docs."

Jaleico says, "Just need a series of travel brochures for various valences."

Speaking to Talinvor, Valyrka says, "But they are not an easy culture to branch out of."

Jaleico exclaims, "Visit Lorae'tyr! Have the time of your life!"

Mersenne says, "I like that there's a valance based on simutronics' release schedules, personally."

Valyrka says, "I do think that there needs to be more on the Dhe'nar side and more fleshing out of the Faendryl side."

Speaking curiously to Valyrka, Talinvor asks, "Are you looking to redesign what we have, or something more unique?"

Valyrka says, "I am looking to add to what already exists."

(OOC) You quietly whisper to Jaleico, "I could see all kinds of great travel brochures for the valences. "Shien'Tyr -- More Than Meets the Eye."."

Valyrka turns to face Eiliriel.

Eiliriel says, "My request ties into what we've been talking about. I understand people are interested in Palestra and Harrowers, but each is just one subset of a branch of the Pentact. I would love to see events that have to do more with the culture as a whole or fleshing out the branches far more."

Eiliriel says, "If you aren't especially interested in those, there isn't a lot that the official events touch on."

Thrassus exclaims, "Spider farms!"

Valyrka says, "And I agree."

Valyrka says, "Those areas do need more detail."

Speaking to Thrassus, Ysharra asks, "What about them?"

Thrassus says, "All that spidersilk has to come from somewhere."

Valyrka says, "And believe me I am always looking for ways to introduce npcs from different areas."

Valyrka says, "Hence we have seen harrowers since that made sense for the story."

Valyrka says, "The original Faendryl Symposium was intended to be a springboard for the culture to jump from."

Valyrka says, "Is there more for both cultures we could add to, sure."

Valyrka says, "If you like to write, I like to read."

Valyrka turns to face Khobra.

Khobra says, "I have a question in two parts. You made mention before about reading the documents over and noticing some gaps in-between. I would like to request, for only consideration, when the gaps filled - Could we have NPC's from the Empire fills those tales? Oppose to just one Ambassador, from the Empire, giving all the information could we have those of Rachis, Emporion - Those of the Empire sharing that information like the Peacocks have. Would be a way to keep up with the Empire too for those which have wandered from it - for a period."

Khobra continues, "The Second questions ties in part to the first, - the trials of Palestra. Have there ever been trials for other positions of note among the Empire? For those, not actually longing to be a Blade. Other empires have them, the trials for those positions could likely be intense - regarding the Faendryl."

Valyrka says, "I am not sure what other positions would be a trial."

Khobra says, "Well."

Khobra says, "Like not knights."

Khobra asks, "What is Raelee again?"

Eiliriel says, "A Magister of the Human Empire hall of mages."

Khobra says, "We have blades now."

Khobra says, "So, there would be those in the Empire within the Clerisy or something."

Durakar asks, "So you are asking for some recognition from the Basilica?"

Speaking to Durakar, Khobra says, "No."

Berkana says, "Magisters seem more appointed, than trained and tested..."

Telare says, "Too many trials would make it not-so-special."

Eiliriel says, "As well as limiting the ability and time to focus on the culture as a whole."

Alisaire says, "Palestra also are not Knights. They're just mercenaries who work for sorcerers capable of paying them."

Valyrka says, "The positions within the Basilica are awarded."

Speaking to Telare, Khobra says, "Listen a moment."

Ysharra says, "Magisters are usually given their titles following some great feat of elementism."

Nehor says, "First we need a trial to have a trial. Then we can have the trial for those that passed the FIRST trial."

Speaking to Telare, Khobra says, "Just like titles awarded through storylines."

Speaking to Nehor, Eiliriel says, "You are a trial."

Speaking huskily to Nehor, Noira says, "I propose action items to go over the trial for the trial."

Khobra says, "These trials like a means to invoke, I don't know. Perhaps trials the wrong word to use."

Speaking to Khobra, Jaleico suggests, "Government placement exams?"

Speaking to Jaleico, Khobra says, "Anything like that."

Khobra says, "Helps spread the culture, Gm's get to reward titles in a different ways."

Khobra says, "We get to learn of the Empire at the will of the Gms."

Alisaire asks, "So you're interested in Faendryl-specific titles being bestowed on more PCs that are not tied to the Palestra?"

Lylia says, "With due respect, the idea of more player-run trials is...dicey. It's something that I don't think any of us could settle at a single meeting, and it might be something to bring to the official forums."

Nehor suggests, "You can...check the wiki. Its got a lot of good info there?"

Berkana says, "Too many titles awarded too often... yeah, what Telare said."

Khobra says, "Perhaps even starts tales between the Dhe'nar and Faendryl, as they create more culture for the Dhe'nar."

Khobra says, "'forge the title aspect."

Valyrka says, "I really do not think more trials are needed, but what I am hearing is more rp events."

Lylia says, "It requires interaction. And events. When there are events, people get a chance to distinguish themselves in some way, titles or no titles."

Speaking to Valyrka, Khobra says, "Using the documents to spread the word."

Valyrka says, "That could lead to more positions within NTF."

Berkana says, "Don't need GMs or titles to RP."

Noira huskily says, "I think if we start out with more documentation, the ideas for titles could come from there."

Ysharra says, "Something that could involve player recommendations, if not require it."

Valyrka says, "Which could foster more cultural closeness with the city."

Ysharra says, "And encourage people to think carefully about their character's backgrounds."

Ysharra says, "And read the lore that's available when doing so. They can have goals, or evolve new ones."

Khobra says, "Exactly."

Khobra says, "Took a moment, but all I was attempting to convey."

Valyrka says, "A theme is emerging."

Valyrka grins.

Alisaire asks, "So me?"

Alisaire says, "I have two questions, one for each official Dark Elf culture."

Alisaire says, "First is (hopefully) fairly simple and small. Would it be possible for the very occasional Dhe'nar merchant to show up? Not Faendryl, not unaffiliated Dark Elf, but actual Dhe'nar."

Alisaire says, "It seems super rare that one ever comes around, and I honestly can't even think of when the last one was. It wouldn't need to be any specific special occasion. Just the representation of a merchant from the Worker Caste coming to sell wares and make money off of the uncouth masses would be nice to show that this culture really is alive elsewhere in Elanthia."

Berkana says, "I just spent two years doing a character change without an in-game title."

Valyrka says, "That is a def possibility."

Alisaire says, "That was an easy yes."

Alisaire asks, "Second, is there any possibility of the Faendryl Basilica and the Imperial Hall of Mages ever joining together for a storyline - either collaboratively or competitively?"

Eiliriel says, "There aren't even really any Dhe'nar NPCs."

Alisaire says, "I'm asking that. For um. Reasons."

Speaking to Alisaire, Ysharra asks, "That sounds fun. Perhaps a scouting mission?"

Alisaire says, "Into other valences."

Valyrka says, "Interesting idea."

Alisaire says, "I mean they are representative of the mages of two of the most powerful Empires in the entire world."

Noira huskily says, "One of the things that I wanted to comment on, is that history is not based off of one point of view. I think making sure that people know that everything we could write don't necessarily need to be in lockstep with current documentation would be a good idea."

Valyrka says, "So rp event that brings the cultures together."

Alisaire says, "They don't need to be on the same side."

Meit says, "It'd be a great place for a diplomatic catastrophy too."

Alisaire says, "I'd expect them to not be on the same side, even if they said they were on the same side."

Nehor exclaims, "Faendryl manipulate the Empire and Vaalor into all out war? Lets do it!"

Vice Chancellor Xorus just arrived.

Xorus wryly says, "The meeting can start now."

Speaking in Dark Elven, Nadier says, "When there is an opportunity I do have a question as well."

Speaking in Dark Elven, Nadier says, "Yes. That is what I understood."

Jaleico turns to face Valyrka.

Speaking to Valyrka, Jaleico exclaims, "Any plans for some Faendryl-centric merchants? We need more of those. Just a shop at a bigger event would be great. EG had a nice forest gnome shop finally, for instance. Also, is there a list of food with dark elf messaging would be neat, or of dark elf themed food, for events and such? Also, hurray for dark elf things!"

Talinvor says, "Lots of Faendryl merchants already."

Lylia says, "There are merchants who are Faendryl, but not many Faendryl merchants. If that makes sense."

Jaleico says, "I was thinking more with Faendryl-themed merchandise. There is the one with the demon vials at EG, but more like that."

Valyrka says, "So more rp and documentation for both as well as merchants and shops."

Noira huskily asks, "Is it possible to have sorcerer runes taught again, since that seems a quintessentially Faendryl thing?"

Veni says, "I agree, and I believe Vathon also led a travel group to a valence."

Veni says, "That was lots of fun."

Lylia says, "Not so much about what's 'appropriate,' but more about...hmm, more about what is culturally relevant. What would be uniquely Faendryl to sell? Not just bourde stuff, with which I am bored, but what would someone see and instantly know, 'Oh, this is Faendryl?'."

Valyrka says, "There are sorcerers who are not dark elves."

Valyrka says, "But I can put the word out that sorcs would like that."

Lylia says, "That's just it. It's ill-defined right now, and so that leads to people walking around like someone rolled around in a Hot Topic while covered in honey."

Lylia says, "...No one look at all my black clothes when I say that."

Speaking to Lylia, Xorus says, "My Che Guevara Faendryl t-shirt is entirely in character and culturally consistent."

Valyrka says, "More docs for both groups that give more flavor to unique rp."

Valyrka says, "Merchants for both."

Speaking to Valyrka, Darcena says, "While respecting the tradition that has been there in the past, but not bathing in the stereotype."

Valyrka says, "More food."

Valyrka says, "And more rp opprtunities that may or may not lead to interactions with NTF."

Valyrka turns to face Nazarr.

Nazarr says, "I have to echo what Berkana said about food. I'm pretty sure that Faendryl in Rhoska-Tor wouldn't have the exact same diet as those in NTF or the Landing or Icemule. Regional cookiing should vary. Which means not relying solely on bugs and snakes. And could we please have an instrument or two--existing ones--mentioned in the documentation as something that we made our own ? I just want music and dance to have been part of our culture. And can the unknown Patriarchs be identified and fleshed out? It seems as if we're missing a lot of them."

Xorus says, "The particularly awkward one is not knowing the Patriarch between Rythwier and Korvath. It's like not knowing who the last President was."

Valyrka says, "Instruments are a tricky thing."

Nazarr says, "I'm not asking for new coding. I just want something in a document mentioning pieces of music played on --fill in an existing instrument. With a note about how this was a popular instrument or a traditional one or something."

Valyrka says, "Ah ok."

Nazarr says, "I don't want to make your life more difficult, Valyrka, honestly."

Valyrka says, "I would love to add more instruments."

Nazarr beams happily at Valyrka!

Valyrka says, "But that is a dev thing most likely, but I am adding it to my list."

Valyrka turns to face Nadier.

Xorus says, "The one document listing Patriarchs implies there were nine or so of them during the Undead War and only a few for the twenty thousand year after. So a Linsandrych's Legacy style document would have to fix that."

Valyrka nods at Xorus.

Speaking in Dark Elven, Nadier asks, "I have an easy question. Where would Nadier find a Clerisy Scholar to be her tutor?"

Valyrka says, "I would start with the Enclave."

Speaking in Dark Elven, Nadier asks, "Do they really exist?"

Valyrka says, "Well they exist on paper."

Speaking in Dark Elven, Nadier asks, "So there are no Clerisy?"

Valyrka says, "Anyone who is a scholar or educator is part of the Clerisy."

Eiliriel asks, "There are people who RP being part of the clerisy. Are you asking about that or an NPC mentor?"

Speaking in Dark Elven, Nadier asks, "I understand. I mean A Clerisy Scholar. Has any Player gone that route or could they go that route?"

Lylia says, "We have a few characters among us at the Faendryl Enclave who are Clerisy affiliated."

Speaking in Dark Elven, Nadier says, "One who has taken the exams."

Speaking in Dark Elven, Nadier asks, "I guess I am not putting this correctly. They have Blades. And the Trials whatever. Can a Player progress to be examined and be a scholar?"

Speaking to Nadier, Lylia says, "I think that dovetails with what we were talking about earlier, about credentials and 'official' status."

Eiliriel says, "There isn't official recognition of that, no."

Speaking in Dark Elven to Khobra, Nadier says, "I am brand new and trying to learn. S please bear with me if I don't say things exactly."

Speaking in Dark Elven, Nadier says, "I am trying to find a way to BE a dark elf with my storyline and Nadier would dearly love to find a tutor."

Valyrka says, "Anyone can rp being part of the clerisy."

Valyrka says, "They may not have official titles."

Speaking in Dark Elven, Nadier says, "I have them and read them. I am not here to be tested on my knowledge at this moment.I am ASKING A question."

Speaking to Nadier, Lylia says, "There's not an official route to Clerisy recognition, but yep, most scholars are affiliated with the Clerisy in some regard, as are most casters. The great news there is that you have a wealth of possible mentors and tutors to choose from."

Speaking in Dark Elven, Nadier asks, "So with that in mind would it be something to maybe happen in the future where those who are RPing or would offer Tutoring could be listed? So I can get this right?"

Ysharra says, "One thing to remember is that the Faendryl, while having a lot of emphasis on sorcery, are officially supposed to be a meritocracy."

Ysharra says, "You wind up where your talents and ambition take you."

Speaking to Ysharra, Jaleico says, "Emporion seems to have a lot of interesting situations with that."

Valyrka says, "One thing to be careful of, at least for me."

Valyrka says, "Is documenting too much in too much detail can stifle creativity."

Valyrka says, "My goal is to flesh out things that could use some, but leave room for interpretation."

Nehor says, "Sometimes its best to be able to just say 'Im in the Clerisy' and not have someone go 'but you didnt get the title from that gm story durrr'."

Speaking in Dark Elven, Nadier says, "I was hoping to tutor under one. be the grasshopper."

Lylia says, "It's always a challenge, too, with cultures that are farther from human history. We all know what a knight or a squire or a lord is, more or less. Faendryl and Dhe'nar culture are wildly different. We are not human. We live for millennia. It's a different mode of thought, and that also makes it more of a challenge to play sometimes."

Speaking in Dark Elven, Nadier says, "Nadier's story has her not growing up around any dark elves and she wants to know who she is. So a tutor."

Valyrka says, "That would be a great relationship to foster with another pc."

Speaking to Nadier, Ysharra says, "Our next meeting is February 4th at 9:30 PM EST."

Speaking in Dark Elven, Nadier says, "That is what I was asking for and hoping for."

Speaking to Nadier, Lylia says, "For what it's worth, we have a lot of Faendryl and half-Faendryl characters in the Enclave who are still discovering more about their culture."

Speaking to Nadier, Ysharra says, "The Enclave officers- myself, Melikor, Lylia, and Eiliriel, will post reminders on the forums."

Eiliriel says, "We do have other more casual events, too."

Valyrka turns to face Nehor.

Speaking to Valyrka, Nehor exclaims, "I have two questions!"

Nehor asks, "One: Is there any specific faendryl OR Dhe'nar story or development planned for Platinum this year?"

Valyrka says, "Not specific to plat, but when I do something in prime I do it in plat also."

Nehor asks, "Two! You say how you'd like more documentation, et cetera...and how you like to read...is there any specific Format and/or Topic we who like to write could pen up and send you that would be...helpful?"

Valyrka says, "If you like to write, find something that interets you."

Xorus nods slowly.

Valyrka says, "If you do not love it, the doc will not reflect it."

Valyrka says, "So choose something you have a burning interest in."

Nehor says, "Fair, but... it might help to have a list that you are wanting MOST worked on."

Nehor says, "So I can pick my favorite from that list."

Valyrka says, "I am just forming a doc list, and then i will prioritize it."

Valyrka says, "But i would choose something you have a strong interest in to be honest."

Valyrka says, "It may not be something I thought about."

Valyrka says, "No, an idea list is probably something I will keep on my journal, because publishing it means it will be done."

Nehor says, "I mean, I feel it'd be okay if you said 'Hey guys, I'd like some input on Palestra, the Dhe'nar Patriarchs, and...uh...I dunno..food types youd like to see!' I wouldnt assume that those are the things that WILL BE DONE next."

Valyrka says, "There is also an approval process I go through."

Valyrka says, "So how about this."

Valyrka says, "When I have a list of ideas, when I am ready to start fleshing them out, I will give a shout out."

Nehor says, "That would be immensely helpful."

Valyrka says, "I have learned what happens when you say something will happen before all the ducks are in a row."

[Ysharra's turn]

Ysharra says, "I'm just wondering if the next time you have a plan for an event or contest or whatever in New Ta'Faendryl if you could please remove the racial restriction. I realize that playing a half-breed comes with its own set of potential outcomes and consequences, but I'd like to have a chance to meet those, rather than barred. Perhaps some compensation could be made for those half-Faendryl who participate in something like the Enclave or other culturally significant events and organizations."

Ysharra says, "Like tonight, for example."

Telare asks, "Let her go and then put her in the stocks when she gets there?"

Speaking to Ysharra, Jaleico says, "Maybe they can have guards watching them the whole time, too."

Speaking to Telare, Ysharra says, "I have a sharp knife and I'm flexible."

Ysharra says, "Also, was wondering if you and Kenstrom might ever be able to join forces on an event, much like Alisaire's idea. He's done so much with the Magisters."

Ysharra says, "It seems like it would be an awful lot of fun. Maybe a more competitive hunt for history sort of thing."

Ysharra says, "A race to find some ancient artifact that we'll wind up giving Xorus anyway."

Valyrka says, "I am unsure about letting half faendryl into NTF."

Valyrka says, "But I wont say it would never happen."

Nazarr says, "Ysharra and Gavrien are family. I would like them to be there."

Alisaire says, "Letting the unwashed races into NTF could work if you had the equivilent of a cattle pen for them to view from."

Valyrka says, "And, no we do not have a story in place at this time."

Valyrka says, "We have some other things approved, but not a faendryl specific story at this time."

Meril says, "Don't underestimate how much noble privilege has always had on flaunting official laws. You know, if some important personage has a reason for wanting them to be there.."

Ysharra says, "And while racial discrimination is very much an element in this game, we should remember it's a game made by players as much as lore."

Darcena says, "Wouldn't be the first time an elven city has suddenly opened its walls - with suspicion and checks in place."

Telare says, "I think I'd prefer seeing someone allowed in, and then kicked out/paying the consequence."

[Talinvor's turn]

Talinvor says, "Would you consider a neutral ground for RP. Rhoska-Tor is a highlight of both dark elf cultures. It has amazing possibilities to tie in perhaps an archeology team - maybe the ability to involve the other Southron Waste Culture. Even Ta'Illistim for all their scholaring."

Speaking to Talinvor, Valyrka says, "That sounds like a neat story."

Speaking to Talinvor, Valyrka says, "That ties in both cultures."

Speaking to Talinvor, Valyrka says, "And possibly even causes a challenge between them."

Talinvor says, "Right and is safe territory for all cultures to involve in, but it could highlight the dark elves.. and yes, competition too."

Darcena says, "It also allows for future defniition of Ur-Daemon."

Talinvor says, "A lot of options for even finding remnants of Ur-Daemon and Drake artifacts, considering it is said to be where one of each fell."

Darcena says, "It's just a really, really cool place lore-wise with a lot of promise."

Lylia says, "We might know someone who knows a little about Ur-Daemon artifacts."

Darcena says, "And doesn't directly lead to GMs having to be involved in aspects of a culture they may not feel comfortable with."

Valyrka says, "So noted."

Meit says, "Mmm I'd love to go back to the Southron Wastes again."

Valyrka turns to face Berkana.

Berkana says, "I'll make it quick, since much of what I wanted, and Talinvor stole my idea for Rhoska-Tor and the Southron Wastes..."

Berkana says, ""I've been thinking of an expedition for Rhoska-Tor for a while, Southron Wastes makes sense. Definitely better food for Faendryl, have I said that enough times? More elucidation about Faendryl fashion I bet Lylia and I could come up with something."

Valyrka says, "I am glad you all are on the same wave."

Ysharra says, "Cultures who thrive in the desert often develop spicy and herb-y dishes as a way to combat the bitter nature of the plants that grow in such an environment."

Valyrka turns to face Veni.

Veni says, "1) I love the vials for Igaesha reading, is there something similar for smoke-seeing? 2) How long does it actually take to travel to NTF in your imagination? (I too would love to see more of this city, or the wastes!)"

Valyrka says, "There is nothing official at this time for smokeseers."

Valyrka says, "It basically uses the same symbols."

Valyrka says, "There just is not a coded item at this time."

Kobane put some pale green herbaceous pipe tobacco in his multicolored pouch.

Veni says, "If there were say, a candle and a vial that worked together, that'd be super swell."

Veni says, "If any of those code monkeys need an EG idea."

Valyrka says, "I may be able to find one, but we will see."

Valyrka says, "I have no idea how long it would take to travel by foot."

Valyrka says, "Good thing we have sorcs and portals."

Valyrka turns to face Alisaire.

Alisaire asks, "I know in past years, there were several players who sought to effectively create new cultures of Dark Elves. Typically they were portrayed as splinter groups from the Faendryl who had lived in small pockets across Elanthia apart from others long enough to be recognized as separate and a culture of their own. Do you foresee developing any official such Dark Elven culture like that to provide a third alternative to Faendryl and Dhe'nar? Or is that not even necessary given the game's overall population these days?"

Alisaire says, "I think that one of the more fascinating things about having so few cultures to pick from is that Faendryl and Dhe'nar are both very visibly recognized as different cultures by other players, while the various Dwarven clans or even Human baronies tend to blend together."

Speaking to Alisaire, Ysharra asks, "You mean like in the Wyrdeep?"

Speaking to Ysharra, Alisaire says, "That's one of three that I can recall offhand."

Alisaire says, "The most known probably of the three."

Telare says, "I like it."

Alisaire says, "Kaishaku had a separate group."

Speaking to Alisaire, Talinvor asks, "Weren't those Ilvari?"

Alisaire says, "Ilvari are a separate race/species."

Valyrka says, "I would doubt that another culture would be added at this time."

Valyrka says, "I can always ask, but I would not be too attached to the idea."

Valyrka says, "But there is no reason not to rp the way you want."

Alisaire says, "It was a question more borne out of curiosity than anything. It's been a while since I've seen serious RP pushing another Dark Elven culture."

Lylia says, "I'm game, as long as it's not, uh....dumb stuff."

Valyrka says, "Define dumb."

Telare says, "We could wander through the desert aimlessly with our eyes gouged out and cloth swaddled over our eyes..."

Lylia says, "If they want to believe they're all Marlu's grandson and vampires and also demons and maybe fairies, NO."

Valyrka turns to face Velana.

Velana says, "Lylia can have my spot."

Valyrka turns to face Lylia.

Valyrka says, "I have enjoyed it and have a sense of direction on where to go."

Lylia says, "Can we expect a Valyrka-led, official Faendryl Symposium this year? We're happy to do Faendryl Enclave events too -- we loved our last one -- but the original was fantastic."

Valyrka says, "I can honestly say with saddness there is not a large event like this planned."

Lylia says, "Awr! Well, we'll do the MHO thing again, and give you plenty of advance notice."

Valyrka says, "So I am not counting it out for the future."

Lylia says, "In case Ambassador Tredohal is in the neighborhood."

Valyrka says, "I am also announcing the book merchant will be coming out end of the month."

Valyrka says, "With a new book."

Valyrka says, "And a few of the old ones."

Valyrka says, "But that is all I am saying."

Lylia exclaims, "Speaking of which, it's not just limited to the Faendryl Enclave. If any Faendryl or half-Faendryl types have something they've been burning to present or talk about or demonstrate at a Faendryl cultural event, let's talk. Bring it on!"

Ysharra says, "We had some thought of having a contest or contribution event around the Enchiridion Valentia."

Ysharra says, "Offering people a chance to add to the lore, the legends, or the illustrations. A lot of talented people. And we have a new library coming soon for people to work in."
