Missionary Assistant: A pilot, chat-based support assistant for service missionaries that consolidates official BYU-Pathway resources to deliver quick, consistent answers—deadlines, process steps, and ticket guidance—with source references. Today it runs as a stand-alone site while content is enriched and responses are tuned via weekly feedback; role boundaries with mentors, access governance, and basic analytics are being defined. Leadership is evaluating future inclusion in Companion, but it is not on the Companion roadmap and has not been scoped with engineering.
Missionary Referral: A centralized, multi-channel referral system that allows mentors, institute teachers, gathering missionaries, Pathway employees, and students themselves to refer non-member students who wish to learn more about the gospel. Embedded in the Companion ecosystem, it automates the capture of student consent, collects contact details, and routes each referral to the Church’s Missionary Department, where full-time missionaries receive and act on it. With 550+ referrals submitted across PathwayConnect, EC3, and Online Degree, the tool is driving consistent outreach while upcoming improvements focus on full-cycle impact tracking and data standardization.
Utah Education Initiative: An AI-assisted knowledge service that helps Education Mentors access official guidance. A custom Gemini model is grounded in approved Google Drive materials and training-meeting transcripts, allowing Education Mentors to ask natural-language questions and receive concise, source-aligned answers. Now in a limited pilot with selected users and functioning in English and Spanish; delivery channel and access model are being finalized. Content updates and governance are managed centrally by the project team (Education Mentors do not train the tool).
