The Companion Progressive Web App (PWA) is a browser‑based gateway that gives every Pathway student immediate access to the university’s most important digital services—no download, installation, or high‑end device required. Launched roughly a year ago, the PWA was purpose‑built for learners who work from shared computers, rely on entry‑level smartphones, or pay for data by the megabyte. From one secure link, students can consult a quick view of their academic progress, chat with the Companion Assistant for real‑time answers, submit support tickets, request official documents, and apply for job opportunities. Because each screen is deliberately lightweight (initial Load: 251 KB), the PWA loads quickly and remains reliable even on slow or unstable connections. In this way, it safeguards equitable access across regions and circumstances, while complementing the richer Companion Native app for students who later choose—or are able—to install it.
The PWA exists to keep essential services within reach for every student, even when they cannot install the full mobile app. By staying small, quick, and data‑friendly, the PWA is expected to (1) ensure continuous access to support and documents, (2) allow students with basic devices to stay engaged, and (3) widen the program’s reach across regions where bandwidth or storage is a challenge.

What Students Can Do Today in PWA
Companion Assistant – chat with a bot for instant answers.
Jobs – build a profile, view openings, and apply.
Support Tickets – submit requests and follow their status.
Student Services – request official transcripts, enrollment verifications, graduation applications, and academic exceptions.
Notifications – receive basic alerts generated by the system.
Mentor & Gathering Info – see meeting details and mentor contacts.
What PWA Deliberately Leaves Out
To preserve its lightweight design, the PWA intentionally omits offline capability, the complete Planning & Registration workflow, multilingual interfaces, and the full application process; these more comprehensive functions are available exclusively in the Companion Native app.
Demo — Full Overview
What you’ll see: This video provides a full overview of the Companion PWA, showing how students access key tools and services in one place. You’ll see the AI Assistant for quick, policy-accurate answers; the Academic Center, where students can view their current course and grade; support Tickets to view or submit cases; the Jobs section where students create a career profile; Network information with mentor details and gatherings; the Payments view showing balance and linking to the payment portal; and options for student services such as certificates, transcript requests, and credit transfer, etc.
Students click the link, sign in, and immediately see a clean, mobile‑friendly page. Every action—chatting with the Assistant, sending a ticket, or applying for a job—runs live on the internet; there is no offline mode. Because the site loads only small text and simple forms, it remains usable even on low‑speed connections.
The Companion PWA acts as a safety net: if a student’s phone is full, their signal is weak, or they are using a café computer, they still have a reliable way to connect. It also serves as an on‑ramp for new users who later decide to install the Native app for more advanced tools. Together, the PWA and Native versions make sure no learner is left out.
Launched: Companion PWA has been live for approximately 12 months and provides dependable, day‑to‑day access for students who cannot install the native mobile app.
Core Services Delivered: All key functions—chat support, jobs, tickets, and student service requests—are fully operational and stable.
