ARCHIER Scale Guide
The ARCHIER Scale is India's official numismatic grading standard, created by AINCERT in 2026. Unlike international scales, ARCHIER is specifically designed for Indian coins.
What is ARCHIER?
ARCHIER (named after Chandragupta II's iconic Archer type gold dinar) grades coins on a scale of 1 to 100, where 100 is perfect condition.
The Grades:
1-10: Poor (P) — Barely identifiable, heavy damage 11-25: Fair (F) — Heavily worn, type visible 26-40: Fine (F+) — Moderate wear, major details clear 41-55: Very Fine (VF) — Light to moderate wear, most details sharp 56-70: Extremely Fine (EF) — Slight wear on high points only 71-85: About Uncirculated (AU) — Trace wear, nearly full lustre 86-99: Mint State (MS) — No wear, full lustre 100: Perfect (P-100) — Flawless, full lustre
PF-ARCHIER for Proof Coins
Proof coins use the PF-ARCHIER scale (1-100) with Cameo designations: CAM, DCAM, UCAM.
Why ARCHIER?
Indian coins have unique characteristics that international scales don't capture. ARCHIER was created to give Indian numismatics its own standard of excellence.
