Key features of Issues Online

Articles- We work with charities and organisations such as Amnesty International, NHS Choices and the World Health Organization to license articles that present different perspectives surrounding a topic. There are over 2,000 articles available as part of Issues Online – all of which are regularly updated to ensure that content remains current. Each article lists its source and a website that can be visited for further information. We also provide a list of useful websites in each individual topic area.

Videos - For each topic, where relevant, we embed a selection of videos. These videos allow students to explore topics in a visual way, without visiting external sites and discovering inappropriate material.

Key Statistics (infographics and graphs) - Our Key Statistics break down current information into the form of graphs, infographics and maps – presenting complex statistics in an easy-to-understand format.

eBooks - The full catalogue of Issues eBooks are available as part of the Issues Online platform. They are presented as flip-book versions of the printed titles, in full colour, with the ability to zoom in and out.

Glossary - Alongside each article, is a group of key words associated with its corresponding topic. When the user hovers over the glossary term, the definition pops up. Key words can also be browsed in the ‘glossary’ section of the site.

Assignments and Teachers’ Resources - Each topic has a list of corresponding assignment suggestions. These include tasks such as staging class debates, creating leaflets or posters for a charitable campaign and writing blog posts. Teachers can access the assignments through the quick-link in the Teachers’ Resources section, to save time and aid speedy lesson planning.
