Dr. Ella Dreyfus is an Australian multi-disciplinary artist and academic at the National Art School, Sydney. She is an award-winning photographer with a PhD in Fine Arts from the University of NSW. She has held exhibitions in Germany, France, Canada and Australia.
Dreyfus Drei is Ella’s first documentary film, premiering at the Delphi Theatre in Berlin 0n 29 October, 2021. It is a poetic film about family, identity and the return of three generations of Jewish artists from Australia to Germany. Ella grew up with little knowledge of her family’s tragic losses in the Holocaust. It wasn’t until after her father died that Ella began thinking about her family’s hidden history. In the film Ella goes to Melbourne to visit her uncle George, the last German-born Dreyfus and keeper of the family archives and knowledge. Ella then travels to Berlin to meet cousin Jonathan, whilst finding her own way of re-connecting to Germany through a series of her public art installations, declaring her family’s names and their Jewish identities.

titled Dreyfus Drei , [ length : 30 min. ]
LISTEN to the Panel on 94.1FM - Egypt Australia Radio Show [ EARS ] discuss the film;
++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
We asked the Panel;
? Ask yourselves this, [ Mistrust, Abandonment, Approval, Betrayal, Trauma, ........ ] ever happened to you growing up ?
? After listening to Dreyfus Drei last week,
Did you relate to what took place in WWII and the innocents of children displacing 1.5 million in the UK and Sudetenland,
Nazi German established it from former Czechoslovak territory annexed after the October 1938 Munich Agreement.
Due to harassment and violence, including during Kristallnacht (9–10 November 1938),
ninety percent of the Jews had already left the Sudetenland by mid-1939..
The Evacuee britain 1938, relocated 1.5 million people from the south of Britain to north and outer countryside of the UK.
The evacuation of civilians in Britain during the Second World War was designed to protect people, especially children, from the risks associated with aerial bombing of cities by moving them to areas thought to be less at risk.
Under the name "Operation Pied Piper", the effort began on 1 September 1939 and officially relocated 1.5 million people. There were further waves of official evacuation and re-evacuation from the south and east coasts in June 1940, when a seaborne invasion was expected, and from affected cities after the Blitz began in September 1940. Official evacuations also took place from the UK to other parts of the British Empire, and many non-official evacuations within and from the UK. Other mass movements of civilians included British citizens arriving from the Channel Islands, and displaced people arriving from continental Europe.

Sir Nicholas Winton, November 2014 - BBC HARDtalk - YouTube [ start 18:05 ]
Sir Nicholas Winton, talking to BBC reporter Stephen Sackur, Sir Nicholas Winton declared that his mother went to UK home Office and demanded actions to save Jewish children, he also clarifies, even though he was born of German-jewish family, he was baptised as Christian and grew up believing in GOOD VALUES in GOOD ETHICS ! giving up on all faith. ??? IS THIS THE Answer to change the world ?
Stephen Sackur from BBC talks to Sir Nicholas Winton at the time of this interview, Sir Nicholas Winton was 105 years old. When he was just 29 he helped rescue more than 600 mostly Jewish children from Nazi persecution in Czechoslovakia [ .
Do you relate to what’s taken place right now to innocent children
belonging to different Race or Religion groups around the world ?
++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
Objectives: To Deconstruct what we’ve inherited in form of Ideas and Attitudes about any religion group, Race, or any other Identity, and build new ones
By stripping away the visuals [ mass media, FAKE NEWS and the bias that’s set out by owners of media networks ],
by listening ONLY to their story on radio, Does storytelling on radio makes a difference ?
Did our attempt, playing what was initially constructed to be delivered by a powerful film, ends up getting played on radio,
help deliver the same message, Director [ Dr Ella Dreyfus ] wanted ?,
Storytelling was always about sitting around the campfire, and passing on our survival stories to the next generation
Primary and some Secondary education was aired to regional students in the outback of Australia,
How successful are these kids now, having learned their schooling via radio and varies Airways ?.
How does radio deliver a different format of storytelling than films ?
Should we introduce Good values storytelling via a podcast in early childhood education ?.
We would like to apologize to all followers of the Jewish faith, treated badly by our forefathers.
We sincerely apologize to any religion group, race or any minority group that have been unfairly treated in the past.

The Panel consisted of [ Rosa Russo, Janet Francis, Michael Russo and other radio listeners that text their questions thru, ]
Questions for Dr Ella Dreyfus;
The Panel responded with the following questions to Dr Ella Dreyfus;
Richard might have carried resentment [ certainly came across on the audio ], George [ brother of Richard ] points out that Richard had a different point view ],
George tells us that Richard had NO love for Germany, NO Feelings, and that Richard was Strict on NOT talking about the War.
? Who’s Older [ George / Richard ? ],
Your uncle George’s strong voice in the film, was that of the OLD SCHOOL stuff ?,
was George protecting his brother, was George harsh to the producer, it seems that George was given a synopsis that on one hand agreed to participate, then when a cast pushed the boundaries, George refused to be taken there.
Dora Heart [ wife ] of Richard Dreyfus = wouldn’t have taken any action to betray her husband ???? TRUE ????
Passport : reclaiming German citizenship, re-connect to family and home,
Ella was it your turn ????, [ because your uncle George and his son Johnson have already embraced Germany ]
In your growing / life experiences, it is clear your position on [ Child-Parent ] was seen as you accepted the role of being the faithful daughter,
I previously interviewed Racheline Barda, author of Egyptian-Jewish Emigres in Australia,
Do you think an Egyptian passport would reconnect & help Egyptian-Jewish reclaim their home country, Egypt, would work ?
Kindertransport, ~ June 1939, 10,000 Jewish children got accepted into the UK, however ONLY 17 children received Visa’s into Australia ?
These numbers are Very Skewed ?
Great-Great parents [ Rumsenberg ] sadly were killed in a Holocaust Concentration camp 1942,
Did your dad [ Richard Dreyfus ] or George, ever talk about this horrible incident ?
Music : The beautiful Instrumental pieces during the film,
Was that composed by George Dreyfus and how can our listeners get a hold of his work.
Film played on radio : Yes, the audio worked well, the feedback from the panel and radio listeners figured it out,
however, we might need a voice-over in places.
Is it possible to show a family tree in the film ?

Sincerely Yours
